Photoflex MultiDisc Circular Reflector, 5 Surfaces, 32" (81.3cm)
This is a Photoflex 32" (81.3cm), 5 Surfaces MultiDisc collapsible reflector. Photoflex LiteDiscs and MultiDiscs are designed for use in the studio, or on location. They add light to shadow areas, add or subtract color casts, or diffuse harsh light.
LiteDiscs come in a variety of sizes: 12, 22, 32, 42, 52" circular, and 41 x 74" Oval.
MultiDiscs are available in 22, 32 and 42" circular sizes. MultiDiscs start as a White Translucent disc, with a reversible slipcover that provides white, silver, gold and soft gold surfaces.
Pick the size that is right for the size of your subject. Pick the color combination that is right for the ambient light, or your creative direction.
Each MultiDisc has a sturdy spring-steel frame that is covered by a heavy duty white fabric. With a twist of both wrists (and a little practice), they collapse to 1/3 their open sizes. Each comes with a nylon storage bag.
Insure consistency and ease of placement by ordering a LiteDisc Holder. The holder, combined with a light stand, acts as a second pair of hands, locking the disc in the exact desired position. The holder also helps your assistant hold the disc flat and steady, especially in outdoor breezes.

- White Opaque - Produces an even, neutral-colored bounce light that works beautifully as a fill light source for both product shots and indoor/outdoor portraits
- Silver - Silver increases the specular highlights and yields a high-contrast, neutral to cool fill, depending on your main light source
- Gold - Same as silver, but with a warm tone -- best used outdoors near sunrise or sunset
- Soft Gold - Combination of gold and silver in a zebra pattern, with a semi-matte surface -- best for all-round fill
- White Translucent - Softens harsh light sources, may also be used as a reflector
- Black - Subtracts reflected light and color casts from intense backgrounds

I like the Photoflex reflector, although was surprised at the small, focused area the light is reflected onto. I was expecting a broader area to receive the light reflected. As it was, in a bright sunny day, with the reflector aimed directly at both the sun and my subject (a smallish woman) it only seemed that her chest and part of her face was lit- mainly in the center of both of those areas. It may be because I was using it improperly, but even my assistant commented on how 'weird' it was that it was such a small focused area of light, especially for a 32" disk. We tried different angles, and different placements, and still the same thing. It could just be because I really need something bigger.
Having said that, I LOVE the transparent diffuser disk that comes with this set. It does wonders for the light and is great at outdoor portraits in full sun. However, again I wish it were bigger. If Photoflex had a giant (72"?) reflector, I would get that as well.
I will have to play around with it some more to see what it can do.
Oh, the quality is fantastic by the way- great zipper and bag. Very easy to fold and store.

Size-wize: perfect, this 5 in 1 reflector is an essencial for every photographer. Love Love the white side wich is a little bit shinny, juste fine! I'ld love to have a black side instead of the gold one but, it's realy a great tool to bring with me everywhere I go. The 32 inches is the right size to hold it with one hand and my camera in the other one. MUST HAVE!

There are at least 5 things I like about the Photoflex MultiDisk Reflector. It has 5, count um, 5 different colors or materials to work with. One of the materials is a full silk built onto the main hoop. It comes in very handy when the sun is beating down hard and you have a medium shot to close-up to work within. The MultiDisk's other 4 reflective surfaces give you several "looks" which can work from close-in to 20 feet or more away. Hard-silver, hard-gold, a silver-gold mix and a soft white should be all you need, interior or exterior, for your still and video shooting needs.

I almost went with a smaller reflector because I didn't want to carry something huge around during travel...but the 32 is the way to go...don't go smaller. Built well.

I mostly use this product for weddings, engagement sessions, senior portraits, and family portraits. I find it evens out light in any situation and adds a professional tone to your photos. Having four different colors plus the clear to choose from is an added bonus. I'd highly recommend this product - it is a necessity.

The material of the reflector has a very good quality and having 5 different tonality it is very versatile. I did not use it enought to be able to judge the quality of the light output.
It is also very easy to fold. When folded and storaged in its own bag, is extremely compact.

The 5-in-1 was recommended to me by my photography professor. My favorite is the transparent disc which filters sunlight which is often overpowering in our California environs. Fits in my backpack and is easy to trek around. Illuminates and creates fill light. Creates perfect ambient lighting.
