I use this to carry water with me on a shoot. I do a lot of location shots, so I am away from my vehicle. I put it in one of the side pockets on my camera bag, but I find it very effective attached to my back pack or just my belt. I always carry two bottles. Not to nag, but when out away from civilization, always carry extra water and other supplies in case you cannot get back as planned.

Good little product, but be careful about the listed size. The 3 1/2 " x 8" spec is for the **outer** measurements including the bottle. The included plastic bottle smells of plastic and you'll want to use a lexan bottle by you-know-who. :) Your 1 liter water bottle won't fit. The half liter bottle will, but that's pretty small.

I take photos of nature. This requires me having water with me. Putting water in my vest works but this take room away from other item i carry with me. I attach the holder to my belt and go with its easy access. Holds other water bottles well.

Comments about Tamrac MX5398 Water Bottle With Carrier:
If you do a large amount of walking while you shoot, this is for you. Keeping yourself hydrated while in the field is important. You are already carrying a heavy bag of gear, but you don't want a bottle of water IN your camera bag.
This keeps the water on the outside of the bag but still easiy acessible. It clips right on to many tamrac bags or can simply slip onto your belt and carry it on your hip.

I like the functionality of the carrier but I don't like the cheap plastic water bottle. I replaced it with a metal one.

The holder and bottle are well made but I'd prefer a different style of bottle. No problem, many different bottles will fit.

The Tamrac bottle holder attaches nicely to your backpack and frees up your hands when hiking. Keeps the bottle snug in the holder, so if you bend over with the pack on your back the bottle stays put.
