This is a Profoto Flashtube for the Acute 2, ComPactPlus 1200 Monolight and D4 heads. It is rated at 4800W/s. Most current, professional flash heads and monolights are equipped with user replaceable flashtubes that may simply be plugged into, and unplugged from their sockets. With proper handling, these flashtubes may last for tens of thousands of flashes under normal use.

Well, how could you go wrong? I bought mine for a backup, and it's sitting on a shelf. It's good to have one ready in case you need it, rather than losing a head during a shoot.

Not really a choice here. Iove the light that the Acute Pro creates, however they are a bit delicate and the Flash Tubes burn out. I have 20 year old (older?) Speedotrons that have never once burned out a tube, and they are not [$] to replace. The Acute makes a better light in my opinion, and are of course much smaller, and the power output can be tweaked to a much lower and more precise degree than a Speedotrons.

Comments about Profoto Quartz Flashtube:
Of course a light bulb isn't necessarily something to get excited about - it's a necessity, an expensive one at that. I never bothered buying a spare because of the cost and, as luck would have it, it burnt out during a studio shoot. (I had the original bulb for 1 year.) So, I improvised with my other two strobes and finished the session, ordering the replacement bulb right away.
The installation wasn't TOO hard but it was a little tricky because I heard you're not supposed to touch the bulbs with your fingers so I used the paper it was wrapped in as a buffer. You have to push it down in the slots pretty firmly to make the connection.
