The Nikon AF Nikkor 14mm f/2.8D ED Autofocus Lens is a high-performance, ultra-wide-angle lens is ideal for interiors, dramatic cityscapes or compelling photojournalistic images even in low light. Comments about Nikon AF Nikkor 14mm f2.8D ED Autofocus Lens:
I absolutely LOVE this lens. I bought it used on [@] for like half the price and I couldn't be happier. It comes in handy in so many different situations. You can as close to something with the lens as possible and it will still focus to that close object. If you're on the fence about buy this lens just do it and you won't regret it.

Very nice lens in spite of the difficult to manage poor excuse for a lens cap. Sharp as a tack and very little distortion.

Love this lens for city scapes and interiors of old buldings such as church interors at weddings. So sharp at every focal length and so little distortion for a lens of this focal length. I do dislike the silly soft lens cap which IMHO cost it a star, because you have to be so carefull putting it back on.

Comments about Nikon AF Nikkor 14mm f2.8D ED Autofocus Lens:
I've been using this lens for dramatic landscape photos, star photography and HDR. It performs with amazing clarity and works well even on the cropped DX format (D7000).
The lens is fast, quiet and worth every penny. It's among my heavier lenses for sure, but worth carrying around.

I would rate this lens a 5 star but I'm not a huge fan of the manual/auto focus switch. Once you are locked into auto mode you can't manually focus. Not a big deal because it is a 14mm.
Great glass and it is a nice size and weight. So far.... wonderful

The only reason I'm not giving a 5th star is that this should be an AF-S lens.
Still, the lines are straight. The photos are crisp. If you have the means, I highly recommend picking one up.

I shoot a lot of tight spaces, like TV Studios, Edit Suites, Master Control Rooms. This lens is perfect for that.

I love everything about this lens! Its response is super fast. I am shooting with a D90. I am new to ultra wide and have been loving the shots that I'm getting. I have been shooting with it every chance I get. I need more practice getting uncomfortably close to my subjects especially the moving ones!

Comments about Nikon AF Nikkor 14mm f2.8D ED Autofocus Lens:
This lens is overall a very well constructed piece of glass. The angle of vision is super wide with minimal distortion. I struggled for a long time trying to decide whether I should go with the zoom 14-24mm or the 14mm prime, and I am glad I decided to go with the latter. Being able to zoom is an awesome capability, but with the prime you can move forward or backwards to achieve a similar focal length and save a few extra hundred dollars. My biggest beef with this lens is the lens cap. Being a soft lens cap makes it kind of tricky to put back on, especially at night. And because the lens protrudes fairly far out, the possibility for scratching it becomes an issue. In terms of photographing capabilities however, great product. I only rated it 4 stars because although it is an amazing piece of equipment, it didn't blow my socks off.

I just bought this lens two days ago and OMG. What a beauty. It really is a gem. I love it. I've been having so much fun with this lens. It simply brings your creativity out. You can do sooo much with this lens. I bought it initially to shoot Real Estate/Interior and Exterior, but I'm having so much excitement shooting the mother nature. I used it on my D700 and shot a few sceneries. You just want to jump and touch the clouds when you look at them through this lens. I was driving back from San Diego, put my camera on P and Live View and took a few pictures while going under the over passes. When I showed them to friends, they just went, wooow... what a shot!
Buy it , then you will know what I'm talking about.

I am an amateur photographer. I like to take pictures while traveling cities. I use it as a candid camera to freeze moments of our times.
This camera portraits the world as your eyes see it and allows you to capture exaclty what you experience.
Quality wise the lense has high standard. It feels robust and reliable. The huge curved lense might be a bit exposed to damage but i guess there is nothing we can do about it but being careful.
The lens is anyway not too big and not too heavy. Much better than the 14-24 F2.8 which is big and heavy, and perhaps less descrete.
I use this lense for 80% of the time, the remaining 20% i have a 24-70 F2.8, which i also recommend coupled with this one.

I had a chance to borrow this lens two years ago to use on my D200. I was very impressed. When I moved to the full frame world recently, I wanted a lens that would give me about the same perspective the Nikon DX 10.5mm did on my D200 and D300.
I use that perspective to show people working, with plenty of their surroundings, to tell the whole story with one shot. The 14mm is a significant step up from the DX lens, which I really like.
If I wore jewelry, I'd put this lens on a chain around my neck.

I have used this lens for about 6 months and have loved everything about it. Its well built and THE most important thing about this very wide angle lens. Like I said before Its Recteliniar. Which means it keeps straight lines straight and curved line curved. its the perfect lens for archectural photography and close quarters automotive photography(my forte). There have been several jobs that I could not have done if I didnt have this lens.

Comments about Nikon AF Nikkor 14mm f2.8D ED Autofocus Lens:
Just a brilliant lens; I have three 2.8 lenses: the 70-200VR and the 28-70, as well as this lens. Surprisingly some of my favorite shots are with this lens. I'm always extremely amused when I attach it to my Nikon FE...it's wide enough that I can almost see myself in the corners of the frame! Indeed, things get tremendously interesting when you attach it to a film Nikon. So there's an added bonus.
Get it.
P.S. No, it's not a fisheye! There's little distortion; I use it on special effect portraits too.
Comments about Nikon AF Nikkor 14mm f2.8D ED Autofocus Lens:
I've owned all of Nikons Ultra wides from the 13 mm to the 18 mm lenses. This is simply the Best! The lens is very sharp and there is less flare than the previous lenses in the 13-15 mm range. Simply the Best!
Expertise: Advanced amateur
Problems Encountered: None.
Previous Equivalent Item Owned: 13 mm f/5.6 AIS, 15 mm f/5.6 AI and 15 mm f/3.5 AIS

Comments about Nikon AF Nikkor 14mm f2.8D ED Autofocus Lens:
I have had this lens for a year now and it is extremely useful. I have been using it on my Nikon D100 and D200. The extreme wide angle shots do not distort into a fish eye but takes up the entire frame. The lens is very sharp and the f 2.8 is an advantage in low light. I have used this for landscapes and have had excellent results. I have used it for interiors and it has served me very well. It has also been useful for shooting model portfolio shots in the studio, coming out with clean shots and exaggerated perspective lines. This is a great lens and I highly recommend it for any working photographer or serious amateur.
