Celestron's premium Night Vision flashlight model for astronomy, this uses two red LEDs to preserve night vision better than red filters or other devices. Brightness is adjustable. Its combined rotary variable brightness control/on-off switch allows you to adjust the brightness over a wide range.
At the maximum brightness setting, the emitted light is bright enough to locate dropped items or disassemble your telescope after observing. The medium brightness levels will properly illuminate a star chart without affecting your pupil's darkness-adapted dialation. At the lowest brightness setting, there's just enough light to determine a filter designation or an eyepiece's focal length.
The Night Vision Flashlight is powered by a single 9-volt battery(supplied) that lasts for several hours. The supplied 20" (51 cm) cord allows you to hang the light around your neck when not in use.
Observação! Not for darkroom use.

Comments about Celestron Night Vision Red LED Flashlight:
This light has a low enough setting when the thumbwheel is turned on to maintain night vision. Much better than using a bright light with a filter over it. I use this to look at star maps and it works wonderful.

Comments about Celestron Night Vision Red LED Flashlight:
Basically, it is a circuit board, battery and two LED's in a plastic case. By the time I could build something like this, It would have cost twice as much and not been as neat looking. Oh, and a nice LONG lanyard. Sure it might be somewhat "fragile"
but I have looked long and hard for an ADJUSTABLE LED flashlight in red. This is the best deal going, as many LED flashlights are too bright, even with a red filter.

Comments about Celestron Night Vision Red LED Flashlight:
I bought this for visiting an observatory, which is very, very dark at night. Having someone shine a very bright light anywhere near you can blind you.
This light is perfect for these situations. It can shine as bright as necessary by rolling the dial on it's side. It starts dim and gets brighter from the off position. It has a useful lanyard which I kept around my neck. It was long enough to find my way about by aiming it like a flashlight yet short enough that it wasn't distracting reading notes, etc.
Using twin LED's was pretty smart in case one of them burned out, you'd still be able to find your way back to your car!
It uses a 9 volt battery, which is readily replaceable.
Some may not like it's bulky size or perhaps it's overall appearance, but it's utility far exceeds its styling.

Comments about Celestron Night Vision Red LED Flashlight:
This product is good for viewing the Sky map at dark. Only flaw is that the light is not uniform on the surface. But I think this problem is there with all the dual led concept product. Other than that intensity control, build and ease of use of very good.

Comments about Celestron Night Vision Red LED Flashlight:
Celestron has a hit with this product! Why other's haven't developed their own is beyond me. Strangely square shape and unique operating controls. Allows you eyes to remain adjusted to dark night observation yet provides sufficient working light to find eyepieces, make notes, read instruments, etc.
The attached necklace makes it handily available at all times.
