A Camera-Specific T-Mount adapter is required and not included with this item. Be sure to purchase the T-Mount adapter that fits the camera you will be using.
The Celestron Deluxe Tele-Extender for Schmidt-Cassegrain telescopes is a hollow tube that attaches to telescope with an eyepiece installed, allowing photography of very small objects such as the moon and planets. By using the Deluxe Tele-Extender in combination with an eyepiece, you can increase your instrument's effective focal length to well over 10,000mm! And this corresponds with a matching increase in image size. This technique is known as eyepiece projection photography. The following formula can be used to determine approximate effective focal length:
Effective focal length = Telescope focal length/Eyepiece focal length x DF(the distance from the center of the eyepiece to the film)
The Deluxe Tele-Extender is used for high-power lunar, solar and planetary photography as well as for extreme terrestrial photography. It fits over a 1.25" eyepiece up to 41mm thick and connects to the visual back of the telescope. Optional counterweights will be necessary to properly balance the telescope when using the Tele-Extender.
To use the Deluxe Tele-Extender, remove the diagonal from your telescope and insert an eyepiece directly into the visual back. Place the Tele-Extender over both the eyepiece and the visual back, then attach your 35mm SLR camera to the back of the Tele-Extender using your camera system's specific T-mount. The Tele-Extender's built-in safety device will help prevent your eyepiece from becoming accidentally dislodged.
There's a few things to bear in mind when using a Tele-Extender. First, the image seen through your camera's viewfinder will be upside down. Second, due to the extremely high magnifying effect afforded by this accessory, extra care to prevent camera and telescope vibration, accurate polar alignment and use under good seeing conditions will all assist you in capturing high quality images.
Please note that Celestron's visual back, #93653-A, is required in all cases; Meade's telescopes work with this Tele-Extender, but not with their own #07182 visual back. The Celestron visual back is supplied as standard with Celestron telescopes, and the front threads on the Celestron and Meade visual backs are identical because the rear cell of both companies' Cassegrain scopes are 2" diameter 18 threads per inch specification.

Comments about Celestron Deluxe Tele-Extender:
The unit fits over the visual back. The projection eyepiece is placed in the visual back and secured with the standard retaining screw. The unit needs the appropriate T ring adaptor to attach to your camera.
Positives
Well constructed and solid
Will work perfectly
Negatives
Expensive for a simple projection fitting.
The standard eyepiece retaining screw will not slide into the little metal box made for it. I had to use an Allen key to undo the box and swing it around 180 degrees out of the way. Then no problem.
The second retaining screw has to be removed from the visual back before use. Surely they could have arranged a slot for this to slide into also.

Comments about Celestron Deluxe Tele-Extender:
Was easy to setup and I used it with my very large Celestron X-Cel eyepieces which I thought would not fit. I did not have to use any additional counterweights with my C8-SGT AS mount, fitted with my largest eyepiece and a canon EOS 500D. The results were better than I expected. With the 18mm eyepiece, the FL was around 14000 and with the 10mm eyepiece, a staggering 28000.

Comments about Celestron Deluxe Tele-Extender:
I thought this would be hard, but it wasn't. I had some very big Celestron X-cel eyepieces and I was able to use them all with this. And the results were very good. I did not need to add any counterbalance after using my largest eyepiece, a Canon 500D on a C8-SLT AS mount. It all worked well and only took a few minutes to connect together and start shooting. The 18mm eyepiece gave me a FL of about 15000 and the 10mm eyepiece a staggering 28000.
