Never mind that the camera bag with the notebook pocket is nothing short of wonderful, this addition just made my camera bag a superior support for my gear.
I took the bag on a trial run to Puerto Rico earlier this year. The bag travelled well, even in the rain forest, but I though it would be better if it had wheels like my old camera bag. When I got back to Puerto Rico, I found out that I can purchase the trolley separately, and I did.
The trolley traveled with me on a recent trip to New York city. I rolled it across the Brooklyn bridge while I took pictures. It was a pleasant, unencumbered walk, thanks to the trolley. Would I buy this again ? Yes.
would I recommend this to my friends? Absolutely.

I use this mainly to cart around a Kata 195 camera bag. There are several flaws with this cart:
- The bottom support only has two thin steel rods to hold the bag up. Over time, the bag sags on the outer parts around these thin rods. If the cart had more surface area to support the underside of the bag, then this problem would be prevented.
- The wheels make contact with the bag, rub against the bag, and wear out the fabric of the bag. Look at the close up view of the cart. Notice how the wheels have a plastic guard around the top but not the side of the wheels facing the bag. If they would simply change the design to also shield the bag from the wheels, then that would prevent the wheels from rubbing against the bag.
- The telescoping handle mechanism has become stiff and difficult to disengage the locking mechanism.
- The extendable wheels for extra stability was a nice idea, but if you're carrying a wide bag like the Kata 195, then the extended wheels will rub against your bag and wear out your bag. Also, after some moisture, parts of the extended mechanism have either corroded or become stuck. My wheels no longer extend out when I try pulling them out. This is not such a bad issue as I've found that the cart is stable enough without extending the wheels.
The good thing about this cart is that it has a relatively low center of gravity when you put a bag on it. So it won't easily tip over from side to side, which is a problem I've had with other carts. I use my cart several times a week for carrying my camera bag to shoots, and I think I may need to send it in for repair / replacement.
It's nice that it has a 5-year warranty, but I've been trying for the last year and a half to get in touch with someone at Kata to respond to my support inquiry. Kata support is terrible because nobody has responded to me within the last 18 months of my attempts to contact them. They do not publish a phone number on their web site. You have to submit a web form that seems to go into a black hole.
Buyer beware! Hopefully you won't need to contact Kata to get support!

I can use the trolley not just for my kata 3N1-33 but for a wider bag. I will be using this on long trips when I have to lug this baby across the airport in between stops and layover.

Comments about Kata DTS Detachable Trolley System:
Took my new Kata bag on a trip to NE via a plane fully loaded with gear. Loved the bag. Hated the weight. Bruised my shoulders. So I got home and promptly ordered the trolley for the trip to MT. What a difference! Trucking through the airport and around town so easy now. And I can carry a small handbag for car keys, wallet, book to read, etc. I'd recommend buying the trolley with any Kata bag that accepts it. My only complaint - if your bag like mine is a backpack, you will need to finagle straps a bit to avoid dragging them/getting caught in the wheels.

.when you have a lot of gear , it is much better at airports than carriny it. Al it does store in the overhead on a plane. I just slipped off the trolley

Comments about Kata DTS Detachable Trolley System:
I've only had this trolley and Kata 3n1-33 bag for just over two weeks and I have already tested it quite a bit. The trolley system is great. As a photography student, it makes carrying my bag and other equipment convenient particularly when i commute to far locations.
I've pulled this thing through gravel and unpaved walkways and so far I see no damage at all. Although I must admit that hearing the wheels turn on top of them is unnerving especially since they seem to be made of plastic. But the rest of the construction is good. I just wish Kata provided an extra harness for none Kata bags. But I got over that by buying my own.
For long term uses, if you want to make sure it lasts long, I'd suggest people stick to concrete walkways. I think it's also great for airline travel.

Comments about Kata DTS Detachable Trolley System:
I use the trolley with the KATA CB-400 HDV Bag and find that this bag and all my gear would be impossible to carry any significant distance without it. The trolley is invaluable for this very reason. If you want a bag that can handle everything you need for the field, you need a trolley to carry it. Okay, I know that was redundant, but you need to save your strength for shooting, not moving your gear. The trolley is simple to use and, as with the KATA bag, they seem to have thought of everything. Its light weight and collapsable. It has double wheels that extend for stability when needed. I keep the trolley on the bag at all times since it is fully collapsable and sits relatively parallel to the floor when lying down.

Once I'm done loading everything into my backpack, it gets very heavy to carry around. Attaching the backpack to this trolley makes it very easy for me to carry it around, especially when travelling.

Comments about Kata DTS Detachable Trolley System:
These are a relatively expensive trolley but relatively inexpensive addition to a Kata bag.
They are not very sturdy and we have broken several of them. However, we looked for good alternatives for our Kata bags and did not find any cheaper or better.
Being able to extend the wheels really help their stability when being pulled. However, the wheels are not very big and allow parts of the Kata bags to drag.
Overall, these are a valuable accessory to the Kata bags that accept them, but sturdier units with slightly bigger wheels would be better.

Must have item for Kata back pack. Sure made my life easier on the road. Just make sure you put it on before packing your bag full of gear or you may have a bit of trouble sliding the trolley into place.

Made the BP-502 an easy pull around on flat ground.
It could use a bit higher barrier/holder to hold the bag of choice up off the wheels a bit better.

Besides that, it's light gear. Pros: the ability to get 4 wheels and a wider distance to maintain stability and get fluid movements. Cons: I don't see.

We received the detachable trolly systems free with the camera bags that we ordered. Very sturdy, well constructed. I like how lightweight and portable they are. No reservations at all about stacking them high with equipment when going on location. Great product.

Bought this to go with my MC-61 bag for rolling around airports. It is very solidly constructed and folds into a very compact package that can be stored in a typical carry on bag.

Comments about Kata DTS Detachable Trolley System:
It's relatively inexpensive when you weigh in how convenient it is. However it doesn't seem very sturdy or durable. It has held up so far, but it seems likely to break in the near future. I bought it for the OMB 74 Bag and it doesn't seem to be a perfect fit. It works good enough though. There is also no other option to get the Kata bag on wheels so considering that I would recommend it. It's pretty nice after a 13 hour shoot to be able to wheel some of your equipment back to your car.

Comments about Kata DTS Detachable Trolley System:
From the subways of New York City to a rural village in Kenya, the Kata Trolley system hasn't let me down. The slot on the back of my R-106 bag worked as expected with the trolly, allowing me to place another bag on top of the 106 to roll both around with me. The trolly itself is very durable, considering it bounced around over 1000km inside various cargo holds of busses back and forth from Nairobi, Kenya to Kigali, Rwanda, then to Mombasa, Kenya. The only downside to the system is the trolley not coming with a retaining strap to keep it from sliding out of the bag. I'm sure the 106 came with a strap to keep it in place, but who knows where it went to. Very recommended item.
