This special purpose eyepiece includes a reticle with phosphorescent-etched crossline patterns, internally illuminated so the lines are clearly visible against dark skies.  Amongst the most advanced commercially available illuminated reticle eyepieces, this Series 4000 Plossl 9mm model includes micrometric x-y positioning controls which greatly facilitate locking onto the guide star.  Turn the finely-threaded controls and place the reticle's crossline pattern precisely at the desired position in the field.

The sharp, high-power imaging of the 4-element multicoated Plossl optical system is complemented by a rubber eyecup that shuts out distracting stray light from the observer's eye. and a finely threaded helicoid-type dioptric adjustment.

Comments about Meade 9mm Plossl Eyepiece w/ Cordless Illuminated Reticle (1.25"):

Was a bit concerned about the short eye relief, but turns out not to be much of a problem. Being able to move the cross hair is a useful feature for picking different stars or just saving yourself some slewing time to exactly centering a star. Minimum brightness setting is still a bit bright for dim stars, but not so much that I have felt the need to do something about it.

Comments about Meade 9mm Plossl Eyepiece w/ Cordless Illuminated Reticle (1.25"):

This eyepiece is great quality in an extremely affordable package. The wireless illumination is great, and the brightness is adjustable. The reticle is a double crosshair with two bullseyes in the center. It is clear that you can adjust the alignment of the crosshairs, but what isn't obvious (or mentioned in the documentation) is that you can rotate the top of the eyepiece to bring the crosshairs to perfect focus. I use this for drift alignment and centering stars for the GOTO function of my mount. Great product at a great price!
