I would not buy this boom stand again. This is a sturdy boom stand. The braking wheels are the best I've used. They hold firm and are easily locked and unlocked. It has only one fault; however, it's a huge flaw in the design. One has to push in the handle to change the boom. And to push it in takes two hands. One to turn the handle and push in, and the other to push in and hold. Without using the second hand, the teeth don't grab effectively. Therefore, I always need an assistant to change the position of boom. I don't understand why the handle was designed to be pushed in. The design would have been flawless, if all one had to do was to turn the handle. Frankly, I am surprised that more people aren't complaining about the difficulty in using this stand. Only one reviewer has mentioned it.

I use it as an amateur inside and outside and I love it, it is heavy metal but it is what I wanted, sturdy and just great! Love it!
I would buy it again and recommend it for others.

Comments about Avenger A4050CS Junior Boom Stand with Leveling Leg - 16.4' (5m):
I just purchased the Avenger Boom Stand after months of debate over how much I should spend on heavy duty stands, I was close to purchasing a set of C-stands, but I knew I really wanted a heavy duty boom. I was shocked by the price of this product, its a chunnk of cash BUT its very reasonable for what you get. Its the sturdiest, most well built peice of gear I own as of now. 300 dollars gets your lighting a good distance in the air, over head, even under sets with the peice of mind that the base its self will keep it planted, then you add a couple sand bags and this thing is a tank with no movement what so ever.
The product is heavy, but who cares, when you know its going to hold your thousand dollar equpiment 16 feet in the air and not blow over with a little touch.

Owned this for several weeks now. Took a while (and a brother-in-law) to figure how the boom works. Now I realize that I neeed the accessory to fit into the female end of the boom or my lights cannot attach - [...] - order yours together. On a positive note is that the boom stand is extremely well made and solid.

I use this stand for supporting small to medium monolights for edge and back lighting of subjects. I also use it for supporting medium to large soft boxes attached to monolights over food shoots. Before purchasing I read a lot of the other reviews that stated that this stand was solid - those reviews are completely accurate. In fact, this has to be the most sturdily constructed and stable boon stand that I've used to date, and I've been a professional Photographer for over 20 years. It is VERY SOLIDLY CONSTRUCTED and VERY WELL DESIGNED - the plus side is stability, the somewhat down side is it is a VERY HEAVY STAND. If I were to ever need an additional Boom stand, this is the item that I will be reaching for.

This is a sturdy light stand. No doubt about that. My only complaint, but it is significant, is that one has to push the handle in to tighten to lock the boom in place from standing upright to bending 90 degress. It would work so much better if one could just turn the handle without pressing.

This boom stand is great for large softboxes. Having used smaller boom stands that are unstable and your afraid the whole thing will topple over, this thing is like the Rock of Gibraltar. I like big beefy stuff and this is it.

Comments about Avenger A4050CS Junior Boom Stand with Leveling Leg - 16.4' (5m):
This stand is big and solid. The safety device that prevents the boom from falling over to the horizontal is well engineered and makes sure that moving the section from upright stand to horizontal boom is a deliberate one.

I have only used this a few times so far but I must say I am beyond impressed with it's build and quality. I've used it in studio with Alienbees strobes with beauty dish & medium softbox so far and it hasn't budged! I haven't even had to weight it down yet. It is HEAVY though and awkward to move once setup with a light, so I would suggest getting the optional wheels for safety.

Comments about Avenger A4050CS Junior Boom Stand with Leveling Leg - 16.4' (5m):
This stand meets every need that I have, from studio to on site. It is sturdy in the least, and it is overly well designed. It is money well spent. You won't need to worry about stability.
The base is broad; so if you are petite, you will need so help to set up.
It is my best stand yet.

Comments about Avenger A4050CS Junior Boom Stand with Leveling Leg - 16.4' (5m):
I use mine in studio and on location. Great for new perspectives for both lighting and camera angle. It's a beast to move and transport, but I get the assurance that my Parabolic Light Modifier or 6 foot Octabank isn't going to come crashing down on my models. Nothing "junior" about this thing.. This kid's a C Stand on steroids! But I love every thing about it. Optional casters are a must. I didn't think I'd need 'em until I tried moving this on location for 4 different sets.

This thing is a beast, and I love it! Finally a boom I can use with confidence. If you want to ensure your monolight and modifier are going to be held safely above your model - this is the boom for you! I also bought the orange 25# counter weight (I think it's 25#s?) and the castors (also very heavy duty, but you have to adjust the angle of the castors which is NOT easy to do!). Highly recommend this product.

Very stable and reliable stand. The upper part could be used as inclined boom arm. This is the best stand for the price. It can hold much more then it's stated in the specs

This is a great all around professional level stand for lights using baby & junior stand adaptors. It has a Rocky Mountain leg for uneven ground and booms for that occassional light you need overhead. Goes up 17 feet and is well made, it should last for years.
