The U-Boat Floor Floater from Auralex is a proprietary U-shaped channel used to support a framing member and float (isolate and de-couple) it from the surrounding structure. Made of a specially formulated rubber compound, the use of floaters helps a floated-room deliver greatly improved transmission loss (isolation) and low frequency definition. As a rule of thumb, a tight, floated-room will always have better acoustics than one using traditional construction.
To determine how many U-Boat Floor Floaters are needed, the total square footage of the area to be floated should be multiplied by 0.66. The result provides the approximate number of units needed.
