Comments about Gepe 8mm 400' Reel and Chest:
I am a film transfer tech who transfers thousands of feet of 8mm film every day. Of all the reels I've come across and used, these are the best for several reasons. First, they are sturdy plastic and unlike metal or cheap plastic reels, they do not become "pinched". The grabbers on the sides of these reels make them self-threading, and I use one as my take-up reel every day. The edges of the reel are smooth and won't nick the film, and the canister is vented for long-term storage stability. Plus, they are made in Sweden, which means that they are well made, and the people who made them were paid more than a half bowl of rice. These are definitely the best reels out there, and I ought to know, I've seen hundreds of different designs.
