I purchased the Manfrotto pump cup with a Junior 3D Head for car on-board videos on touring and sports events. I was initially quite afraid the entire set might fall, thus damaging the paintjob and the equipment... However, after many successful uses both inside the car (mounted on all windows) as well as outside (front of the hood, door, trunk) and driving up to 140km/h (approx. 90mph) in rough conditions (hard suspension, aggressive braking and cornering, vibrations due to bumps and kerbs), I can honestly recommend it. The pump cup holds well and the entire set is very stable and stiff with only slight movements actually absorbing the vibrations - the results are great even despite using a cheap old mini DVD camcorder.

The only downside is that it requires quite flat surfaces - gentle curves (windshields, hoods) are OK with careful mounting (once it starts pumping in it will hold), but some seemingly suitable areas (curved doors etc.) won't be available for use.

I mounted a Nikon D300 on this pump cup, the cup was able to hold the camera with a 1.7 lbs tripod head with no problem. Great quality.
