Nikon HB-25 Bayonet Lens Hood for Nikon 24-85mm f/2.8-4.0 D-AF Lens USA
The HB-25 Lens Hood (Bayonet) is for the Nikon 24-85mm f/2.8-4.0 85mm D-AF Zoom Lens. Lens hoods are primarily designed to prevent unwanted stray light from entering the lens by extending and shading the end of the lens. In addition, since the end of the lens is extended, you also get the added benefit of some extra protection from accidental impact.
The "petal" shape of this lens hood maximizes the amount of hood coverage for the minimum amount of weight and hood area. This dedicated lens hood is designed to match the specific focal length of the lens it was designed for.

I have found that it always better to go with the manufacturers items than off brand when buying small items like this. They fit better and definitely last longer. I know some will say that this hood is sloppy fitting but my last off brand was so tight that it broke when trying to take it off. So I would advise to buy brand names for small equipment.

Does what it is supposed to do, my complaint is the loose fit; my solution is to thread only on the bottom and leave the top off, crossthreading creates enough of a friction fit that it will not just fall off on ya, will not damage hood or lens either.

Also works on Nikkor 24-120mm f/3.5-5.6 AF-s Lens. Snaps tightly in place. Old one absorbed the shock of my camera falling from a tripod, & the camera/lens damage was minimal due to this lens hood absorbing the brunt of the impact.
