Great for its intended use but that is not why I bought it.
Instead of an eyepiece shield, which is unwieldy, I fastened a small piece of black felt to the cover. Now I have an eyepiece shield that I can flip out of the way to use the eyepiece or flip down to cover the eyepiece. I use the cover generally and for photographing youth sports outdoors. The camera is on a tripod and can only pan. Sighting along the lens is more than adequate and I have the benefit of a stereoscopic view of the action - makes it easier to anticipate peaks in the action.

Someone at a different website said that this hot shoe cover will also work for Canon DSLRs. That person was wrong. This cover only partially fits my Canon EOS D5 Mark II. It will not completely insert into the hot shoe because the shape of the tab on one end of this cover does not conform to the shape on my Canon and ends up getting stuck before the cover can completely insert into the hot shoe. Also, after having physically examined the cover, I have to question whether it is truly waterproof. If it is not, then even a small moisture leakage into the hot shoe with the cover inserted can potentially cause more damage than not having a cover at all, since a cover can impede the moisture from drying out. With no cover, the moisture can dry out more quickly, minimizing any corrosive damage. In any case, my Canon's hot shoe, as are Nikons', is waterproof, so if it ever gets wet, I just need to wipe it up and let the natural air-dry do the rest.

It was intended to be use on Nikon but fits on many Canon DSLRs. It didn't doesn't fit on my Canon 7D. I'd just simply grind down on the part that interfere with the fit and it fit perfectly... and it is cheap!
A nice accessory to avoid dirt on the flash shoe.(Note*: Canon built in flash won't pop out since Canons hot shoe have a switch which prevent it to pop up when a external flash is attached.)

I bought this for a Canon t1i because Canon does not supply them. However, Canon also uses some sort of switch on the hot shoe which stops the on-camera flash from operating when something is in the hot shoe (although I have a flash diffuser with a different footprint that does not affect it). So, if you're buying for a Canon with an on-camera flash, be advised you'll have to remove this to use it.
