Glidecam Camcrane 200 Camera Crane
The Camcrane 200 is a tripod mounted, boom-arm, camera crane system designed to allow you to smoothly boom your camera up, boom your camera down and move your camera in an infinite number of 360 degree areas. When balanced and used correctly the Camcrane 200 moves with such tremendous precision and fluidity that the results can only be called "picture perfect".
Camera cranes have been an industry standard for over 85 years. People have used cranes to move cameras to new heights both literally and figuratively, and now you can too.
The Camcrane 200 is the most affordable and versatile crane of its type on the market today. With its ease of set-up and variable boom lengths, you'll soon find yourself shooting the shots that you've always dreamed of.
- Constructed of aluminum alloy with black coat finish.
- With the four length combinations - 3.3', 4.10', 6.6' and 8.1' - and three fulcrum (balance) settings, the arm can be adjusted and balanced to right elevation that's needed, and holds cameras up to 25 lbs at 8-ft and 30 lbs at the 6.6' length.
- Can vertical boom from floor to 10-ft @ the 8-ft length (variable).
- Rotates 360 degrees via precision, zero deflection, needle roller, turntable bearing.
- Mounts on the 3/8" standard bolt found on the majority of medium and heavy-duty tripods.
- The Head Unit has a 3/8" mounting holes/slots allowing you to attach and horizontally balance a pan and tilt video head and can be set up in either high or low mode.
- Crane can be operated from either the head unit or the weight unit.
- Fits easily into trunk of car at only 3.3-ft long.

I use the Camcrane for short films and am more than pleased at the advanced camera movement this crane is able to achieve with little more than a spare set of sticks and a few weights for counterbalance.
Without a remote head, I am able to control the properly weighted crane from the camera mount to add the tilts and pans to my vertical/horizontal movements.
It is easy to build/break down. If you have a spare fluid head/sturdy tripod legs w/spreaders (which I keep broken down with the crane when stored), building the crane can be accomplished in only a few short minutes.
As a con, there is no secure lock for the crane's panning unit. If wind is blowing, you better have someone holding the weights because it can swing on its own.

I was excited to find an affordable camera crane and ordered the camcrane 200. What could have taken 10 minutes to show how to put it together with a video or maybe 20 minutes with a few step-by-step print images, it was taking hours to read through all the pages of just text. I finally called the company and in a quick phone call had all my questions answered and found that my tripods the B&H rep said would work needed a ball leveler in order to mount the crane. Maybe all this wouldn't be a problem for someone who's already used and built a crane but even then it says to "read all directions before assembling". Now that we have it up it is pretty cool and we have figured out a way to transport it without taking everything apart.

This jib is a workhorse, I use it on a lot of shoots. Best thing about it is its duribility, there aren't any plastic parts and no need for custom bolts. If you loose something its not the end of production just run to a hardware store. Cameras I've flown on it include RED MX, Sony F3 and Arri Alexa.

A little difficult to set up, and takes more than two people to get together initially. The results however are worth the hassle. We got to shoot really excellent footage and the flexibility is just right for a small TV crew that wants to simulate the look and feel of film.

I am a videographer and this Camcrane 200 is fantastic. It gives me great jib shots and does so at a minimal cost. It takes me to the next level of videography. It is hard to move around when fully assembled (cumbersome), but is also very light. I rented it once and became a believer, and so decided to buy it outright.

This is definitely an entry level product with limited functionality. I have not actually used it in production yet, but plan to soon. I have set it up and practiced a bit. It is a low cost item for a reason. That said, It should work well for the limited scope of shooting that I have planned for it.

I went on the market looking for an extremely high end expensive crane. I went to the B&H superstore and the salesman sold me on this crane. Pretty much the best deal, I saved about 2 grand which I used to buy the other "crane necessities". The unit performs amazing.

I have been using this jib to shoot rock climbing, live concerts, real estate videos, and done studio work and it has performed great in all locations. It's pretty easy/straight forward to set-up + balance. Very smooth when balanced properly.

The Glidecam has offered us a way to get the nice smooth movement for crane shots without adding a high expense or difficult set-up and transportation. The Glidecam Camcrane 200 is so easy to put together and use it's amazing. I put the whole thing together myself and was up and shooting just a short while after recieving it. I give it high marks for it's fluid movement and have to say it makes your good videography into great videography. I highly recommend the Camcrane 200.
