Reasonably priced filter
Again, nothing special about this filter. It looks cool, matches the finish on my Canon 40D and 28-135 lens, and is branded. Outside of that, it's just a filter.

I bought it mostly to protect my lens should my butterfingers or my children get the better of it.
Comparing pictures with and without the filter (both indoor, portrait, action, and outdoor) doesn't reveal much. The camera itself is so awesome to me that I can't tell much of a difference in any quality. I will admit, however, that the photos taken with the filter in outdoor settings seem to have deeper colors, although this is only anecdotal.
Buy a filter for each of your lenses to protect them -- it doesn't really matter which...

Beware flare and ghosting
If you spend hundreds of dollars on a lens, it does not make sense to risk ruining shots due to flare. This particular, simple-minded filter, is particularly prone to flare.

Expertise: Advanced amateur
Problems Encountered: Flare problems, easily provoked with night-shots, and direct light hitting the sensor.Buy a multi-coated Hoya or something instead. Or, just don't use a UV-filter on your lens.I had to try a Hoya Super HMC also, and for the exact same scene, there is significantly less flare with it, compared to this Canon UV-filter.

Comments about Canon 72mm Ultraviolet (UV) Glass Filter:
I liked the quality so much, I bought two! I replaced a filter I had on my other lens with this one. My pictures look great! I also like the thickness of the filter ring. It certainly holds the lens cap tight. If I buy another lens, I'll be buyin another one of these for sure.

Watch out, uncoated glass. At least 4% of your light will go away. Otherwise it is fine.

Although some have said they don't like using filters, I think it is well worth the trade off to protect my lense. It's cheaper to replace a filter than a lense.

I use the product on the front of a 20mm canon lens. I keeps UV out, and helps prevent damage to the lens.
It seems to work just fine. I honestly don't know what else to say. It's just a UV filter.
If you need a UV filter, this seems like a pretty good choice.
