I use my 77 mm UV filter on a Canon 10-22 mm f3.5-4.5 lens, used predominately for landscape photography. I bought the filter to protect my lens, but I have also been impressed at its ability to enhance contrast in pictures containing clouds. It is a must have item at an affordable price.

i bought this filter to use with my 24-105mm canon L lens and was very disappointed to find that the filter actually touches the lens element, showing about 1/32-1/16 inch dark spot where they meet. this is only with the newer version of this filter, however, because when tried with an older version of canon's 77mm uv filter that is a little thicker, the lens element did not touch. other than that detail, it seems like a very nice filter that might work better on a telephoto lens with less curve of the glass.

Comments about Canon 77mm Ultraviolet (UV) Glass Filter:
Filters should do their job without any fanfare! This one does just that! Put it on and forget about it. Your lens is protected.
Yea, my Canon 10-22mm lens cap fits perfectly on this filter!!!
(By the way, for those of you that are considering the Tiffen 77mm UV (Ultra Violet) Wide Angle Thin Glass Filter, don't unless you don't want to use your Canon lens cap.)

Comments about Canon 77mm Ultraviolet (UV) Glass Filter:
I use the product on my Nikon 80-200mm f2.8 as a protection the lens glass. The Canon filter is very clear, does not disturb the quality of the lens. It has threads on both sides so additional filters can be attached to it (such as polarisers or ND filters). Best thing about it is the price. It is cheaper than the competitors and lacks nothing in quality.

Comments about Canon 77mm Ultraviolet (UV) Glass Filter:
I compared this to my B+W equivlanet filters and there was a noticable loss of light/contrast/sharpness. I no longer use UV filters unless I need the extra protection (near a waterfall, somwhere really dusty).
If you are buying L lens or high quality, do not skimp on the filter, if you insist on using one.
Also make sure to remove for night shots. Internal reflections and stray light will result.

This filter is inexpensive insurance for a $2,000 lens, but so much more. This filter is exactly as you would want it to be, when you take pictures you can't even notice it is there.

I use this filter on a 10-24mm wide angle lens simply to protect the lens. It works well, even at the most wide angle focal length.
