The Pentax Remote Control F infrared remote control is handy for taking pictures of subjects that are difficult to approach, for self-potraits, or to minimize vibration for close-ups and time exposure. Certain cameras feature a built-in 3-second delay in the shutter's release after being signaled by this remote.

I use this for HDR and panoramic work, when I tripod mount m camera and need to keep it as still as possible. It has great range (seems to be better than an aftermarket one I was using) and works with both my k20 and k7. I am convinced, though, it will eventually go the way of my older one - lost:( I wish there was a laniard loop on this.

I agree with the prior reviewer about some of the product features and size. Basically, this remote does what it's supposed to.
However, there are no loop-holes for attaching a lanyard. Nor have I found a way to replace the battery, or to determine if the battery is low. If you are in the field and dependent upon steady tripod shots, this product is too easy to lose and may lose power when you need it most. So, just buy some extras. (...so many DSLRs and SLRs no longer supply old-fashioned screw-in shutter release buttons.)

Comments about Pentax Remote Control F:
I think this will be nice to have. I wanted a cable release but settled for this. I was impressed with it's small size and it's function. It will be much nicer than un-weather sealing my camera to plug a cable in. Also, it fits nicely in a lens filter plastic box, with the padding still in it, along with the viewfinder cover that goes with my camera. Now if I can always remember where I put it when I need it. I kind of wish it had a place for a wrist strap or lanyard but I will probably get over it.

It's pretty simple, there is one button on it. Point it towards the camera and shoot.

So easy to use that even my two years old son was able to use it... with a big smile at the end. :)

Works straight out of the box. With the remote feature enabled on the K10 you can use this from either in front or behind the camera. Two issues, you can't disable the flashing red light (front and back) on the K10 when remote is enabled, and there is no lanyard on the remote itself. Its so small and light, I am bound to lose it (it lost a star for this).

This remote is much smaller than I expected it to be! It works as advertised and my only complaint is that the range is a bit limited.

Comments about Pentax Remote Control F:
I tried to use this and it's functioning was very intermittent. I tested it very thoroughly to make sure I was positioned properly, within proper distance, etc. If it's time to take the picture, the remote control needs to work now - not next time, or the time after that. Based upon the functionality of another Pentax product I purchased, I believe it was not defective, but rather just poor quality.

I used this for night photography and it works great! good range for the sensor. Can also work for shots not including the photographer, (just put it real close to the sensor) Great for timed exposures on a tripod. I just wish it had replaceable batteries or rechargeable.

I use this for a lot of different shots, birds will accept the camera and tripod, but not a person too close. Family shots instead of the self timer. It really has endless uses.
Love the small size, you can hold it in your hand and it is not bulky or intrusive.
If there were any drawbacks, it would be the small size, easy to lose one if you lay it down.

Comments about Pentax Remote Control F:
The only thing I don't like about this remote is that, because it is infrared, it has to be in front of the camera. You cannot use it behind the camera.
I use this remote with my K-x to get long-shutter landscape (waterfall) shots, and for using the in-camera HDR. The in-camera HDR does not work with the timer. Therefore, in order to have a perfectly still camera, it is best to use this remote.
I only give it four stars because I always have to reach ahead of the camera to use the remote. It is a pain in the ___ to have to do that.

I use this with a Pentax K-5. It works exactly as described. I do feel that this item is over-priced. I was surprised at how small this unit is. Since this is such a small and lightweight item, I wish there was some way to attach a lanyard or strap to it so as to make it less likely to get lost.

Comments about Pentax Remote Control F:
Frequently requires multiple attempts to get the shutter to trigger.
Can't use it from behind the camera only the front.
I wish there was a better remote, or at least a bigger one, most USB flash drives are bigger than this thing.
