The Q-36T is not really a flash, because by itself it will not function. It is a "lamphead" that is best described as a flashtube with an extension cord. It would be a nice accessory for your Qflash T or T2, if you want to mount a flashtube in a softbox and get Automatic exposure via the flash which is situated at the other end of the cord, well away from the softbox you are using it with. (This setup would not be possible previously) The Q-36T features a very small flashtube housing, with a 1/4-20" threaded hole for easy mounting and just enough room to accept a reflector. The other end of the 8 foot cord looks similar to the plug end of your flashtube. After plugging it into your Qflash T or T2, you are ready to shoot.
Remote Qflash Heads can be mounted to other Quantum mounting accessories such as the QF72 Multi Bracket. With the Remote Qflash Heads, photographers can shoot in all Qflash modes - automatic, TTL, manual, and stroboscopic. All Qflash accessories are compatible, giving a new dimension to light control with the Qflash system. Please note: for specifications, see the specs for the flash you are using, as all specifications are determined by your flash.

Comments about Quantum Instruments Qflash Model 36T Remote Flash Head:
This 'extension cord' is one more reason why I'm glad I've purchased the Quantum flash system. I'm using these with my Trio strobes and have found two immediate advantages.
.
First and best is the ability to have a studio strobe which is essentially the size and weight of a bare flash tube plus whatever lighting reflector/diffuser is attached. This is great for positioning strobes on small booms or in small out of the way places for interior architectural and portrait shots. For macro work this allows strobes and diffusers to be placed near the axis of the lens mimicking a 'ring light' Note to Quantum: this would be a great place to start developing a 'ring light' for your system…
.
The second advantage even in conventional set-ups is that these cords allow most of the weight or mass of lighting setups to be positioned near the base of the stand. I do a 'Pictures with Santa' promotion every year as well as other events mixing light stands with uncontrolled crowds and it's always comforting knowing that every time someone bumps my light stands they will tend to recover and stay standing rather than tending to tip over and crash.
.
This little cord rig is an unpublicized gem! I'm buying one for each of my Quantum strobes!

Comments about Quantum Instruments Qflash Model 36T Remote Flash Head:
Always a concern when you have a Quantum flash head and body hovering 12 feet in the air at a wedding with the use of sand bags to weight the stand. I do not leave home without this device now. Allows controls of Quantum T5d flash to remain within reach without having to lower the light stand to make changes, also saves time. Makes quick work when time is precious.

This is a must have for anyone using a Quantum Qflash off camera photographing people, products or places. I photograph all three (see sample images at [...]) and this product is a great accessory that allows me to efficiently create images with a variety of lighting techniques from soft light to hard light.
