Comments about Photoflex LS-Boom Adjustable Boom Arm:
This boom works perfectly for the Photoflex Halfdome softbox, as a hair light, and is plenty rugged for long term use. It does reguire a counterweight however, so be sure to get one, to hang it on the end hook.

Comments about Photoflex LS-Boom Adjustable Boom Arm:
I own 2 of these booms, they work just great! The boom arm either fits on a photoflex boom stand, which is recomened. The boom stand is solidly built, heavy, and very sturdy. However, it does fit on a regular light stand. It is a little unsteady, but with care it works nicely. So if you're looking for a good reliable boom arm, this is the boom arm for you!!

Comments about Photoflex LS-Boom Adjustable Boom Arm:
I use the boom, paired with the Photoflex base, as part of my portable studio set-up. I put an Alienbees 800 strobe and a Photoflex white dome nxt on it to fill the backdrop or to provide hair light. The knob for tigtening the boom with the light and box on it is awesome but it is very important to find the counterweight needed to perfectly balance the system. This will extend the life of the knob and grip and will make adjusting your lighting a lot easier.

This, like every other Photoflex product I have is solid and heavy duty. I have nothing but positives for this and every other Photoflex item I have in my studio. Totally recommended.

- Boom for travel kit
PROS:
- strong metal construction
- easy to use
- breaks down to 3 short pieces
CONS:
- base is big and bulky. Wish it was more stream lined for travel.
My lights are light weight so this boom is great for my travel kit. I have to use th 13' light stand as the smaller stands do not have the structure to support all the weight. A sand bag, water weight or other weight is needed for the base of the light stand when using.
I find this to be the most versatile boom for travel kits. It breaks down well and has nice metal construction. I suggest the water bag weight if you travel so you don't carry extra weight. Get two (1 counter balance and 1 light stand stabelizer)

Comments about Photoflex LS-Boom Adjustable Boom Arm:
Having been a long time fan of Photoflex products, I started noticing lately that some of my older Photoflex light stands and other gear could stand to be improved as adjustment screws and other crucial parts were breaking down. I visited the Photoflex booth recently at the PhotoPlus Expo in NY, and to my great delight, Photoflex has been quietly making design modifications and improvements on many of their products. Many of the adjusting screws and other parts that were prone to breaking have now been redesigned to avoid these mishaps and make their products much more rugged and heavy duty for frequent use. This Boom Arm that I just purchased is no exception. Very solidly built and a great value for the cost. I would not hesitate to buy this boom.
