With the BEHRINGER vocal microphone ULTRAVOICE XM8500, your voice will shine in a way it never has before, giving a powerful edge to your performances. Your creative energy and highly professional demands finally have a worthy partner. You want your voice to come across at its best, capturing your audience with its power and expression. No problem: with the ULTRAVOICE XM8500, you've got them in your hands.
Bringing out the subtlest nuances and placing them properly in the mix: that's what a good vocal microphone is all about. And that's exactly what the ULTRAVOICE does. Its cardioid characteristic picks up sound from the front with the utmost sensitivity, while strongly dampening sound from the back. This gives you more security against feedback. The integrated shock-mount system effectively reduces handling noise to an absolute minimum. The XM8500's balanced low-impedance output lets you connect it to any console or microphone preamp - provided it has enough dynamic headroom. You'll need plenty of that: the ULTRAVOICE is so powerful that you'll put your current favorite microphone in its box. Even if it cost ten times as much.
On stage, dependability counts. The ULTRAVOICE won't let you down. Its rugged construction protects it against the toughest changes you can put it through. The matte anodized surface reduces reflections from studio or stage lighting. The two-stage pop filter and tough steel mesh keep breath and pop noises out of the signal.

I bought 4 of these cardioid microphone to replace a beat up old Shure SM58 and a missing Sennheiser cardioid. I had heard that this Behringer design was based on the SM58 and that it was sturdy but after recording for a while with them (in the studio and on location) I am very impressed with the audio quality as well as the strength of its build; especially at this price!

Wow, I actually had some of these in the past and sold them when I thought I was done playing music. Was sorry I did and ordered some more to use for live sound in a bluegrass band. We use them for vocals and instruments. They rival any big name mic you can name for live sound, and you can get 3 or 4 of them for the same money as one of the others! So, buy a bag full and outfit your whole group. An on/off switch would be nice but not worth complaining about.

Comments about Behringer XM8500 - Dynamic ULTRAVOICE Mic:
So far so good.
Using the microphone to do some vocal recording at our home studio. It's been a quality mic so far - great sound - easy to use - inexpensive.
Our one beef is there is no on/off on the mic - so we're forced to mute it on our mixing board.
We love the carrying case that comes with it though!

Comments about Behringer XM8500 - Dynamic ULTRAVOICE Mic:
I've used the Shure SM58 for over 30 years, and started using the Behringer XM8500 a couple years ago. I am blown away by the XM8500 mic's presence and cheap price tag! I did a live mic test for an audience - singing through each mic - most people were neutral on either the SM58 and the XM8500 - but I had some avid music listeners prefer the Behringer! Just a fantastic microphone!

Comments about Behringer XM8500 - Dynamic ULTRAVOICE Mic:
The Behringer XM 8500 is an inexpensive alternative to the Shure SM 58. This mic similar power and clarity with very low feedback characteristics, and if it is damaged you can replace it cheaper than the cost of repairs. I have used the XM 8500 for recording and live performances and I am completely satisfied with this product. Nay sayers can continue to use the high dollar mics but remember that those mics are subject to the same abuse, and I can buy 5 XM 8500's for the price of 1 SM 58. Prestige doesn't enhance sound.

Comments about Behringer XM8500 - Dynamic ULTRAVOICE Mic:
I bought this as a second mic to use for podcasting. I wasn't expecting much, especially as this mic is less than twenty dollars, but I got a LOT more than I paid for. The sound quality on this mic is equal to or greater than many other mics I own that are far more expensive. Low noise, great frequency response.I've owned [$] mics before and they've been cheap plastic toys. This is extremely well made, nice and heavy and the sound quality is nothing short of excellent. The only minor downside is this mic is prone to exaggerating plosive sounds ('P' and 'B' sounds, etc), but I fixed that with a three dollar foam windshield.

These Behringer XM8500s are good, low-cost vocal/instrument mics...I use them mainly to mic acoustic guitars, mandolin, and so on.
I use them regularly and also carry a few for spares...
Thanks B & H for getting these to me quickly and for the lowest price I've ever seen!!

Comments about Behringer XM8500 - Dynamic ULTRAVOICE Mic:
This mic is really great. It was affordable and easy to use, just plug and play. The only thing that I don't like, is that there is no on/off switch which is somewhat annoying when you are plugged into an amplifier with multiple channels; meaning that line is always hot. Other than that, it's a great buy.

I picked up 8 of these for my rehearsal studio.
i love them! the sound is clean and clear great on almost any voice. super durable. their bang for the buck levels are off the chart!!!
they're not quite as unidirectional as the higher priced or "industry standard" vocal mic. but a great value just the same...

Comments about Behringer XM8500 - Dynamic ULTRAVOICE Mic:
I performed some testing with this mic and compared it to my Shure that cost me more than double the price. I also do Live sound mixing for various church bands so I hear many different mics. The sound seams very full and a little basier than the sure. The construction is great and has a nice feal to it. It's hard to say which one I like better, but I do have a slight inclination for the XM8500. I would not hesitate to purchase it again. Comes in a nice foam case with mic holder.

I've used both the Shure SM-58 and GLS ES-58. They are both incredible mics. This Behringer was rumored to be the same as the Shure and the GLS. It's a decent mic but not very similar to the Shure or GLS. For the price it's ok, but I'd definitely spend a little more and get the GLS. The GLS sounds even better than the Shure in my opinion. You can buy 3 GLS mics for the price of 1 Shure. Really! Or you can buy 4 of these Behringers.

Comments about Behringer XM8500 - Dynamic ULTRAVOICE Mic:
I give this 5 stars not because it is the best mic on the planet but for the price it is incredible and gives well beyond its price. It is like getting something similar to the Shure 58 or 57 for $20. I was skeptical but heard alot of good things on reviews and bought one. There is not enough difference to me between it and a shure 58/57 to justify another $70-80. Try it and see your self

Comments about Behringer XM8500 - Dynamic ULTRAVOICE Mic:
I bought this mic to practice with my band (punk). Works extremely even when used with a XLR to 1/4" stereo cable. I was surprised at how clear the sound was even with the full band around me in a relatively small area. I wouldn't use it for shows because it seems you have to have the mic in one specific direction otherwise your sound is cut off quite distinctly. All in all great practice mic, especially for [$]

Comments about Behringer XM8500 - Dynamic ULTRAVOICE Mic:
Sturdy and surprisingly clean sounding low price mic, seems to be modeled vs. the Shure 58's.
Pretty powerful when considering signal to noise ratio; handling is a little noisy but with proper technique poses no real problem.
The cardioid's directional pattern is much more direct then even the 58's which can be excellent for event vocals and quick recordings.
