The Korg CX-3 is 61-note, fully polyphonic electronic organ keyboard, devoted entirely to the faithful recreation of the sound and behavior of the classic tone wheel organs and rotating speaker cabinets we've all heard, but have never actually had to carry.
The CX-3 incorporates Korg's highly advanced sound modeling technology, called REMS, and recreates in uncanny detail, familiar nuances ranging from amplifier "growl" to percussive key-clicks, replete with 2 sets of drawbars, and a number of other real-time controllers. The natural wood finish imparts a classic look as well.
The high level of programmability buried in the CX-3, and well-developed MIDI implementation, means that players have access to not only the classic and familiar combo tone wheel sounds, but also to new and original sounds that cannot be produced by the "real thing", which is exciting for the more adventurous devotee of these venerated instruments.
The CX-3 is also comparatively light in weight, and reasonably priced, which is very good news for working musicians who want the classic tone wheel organ sound, but can't deal with the weight and the price tag.
