Since it has five sections, support strength is maintained as the fixture is raised; most of the column remains inside the main shaft.

When I ordered this I was not aware that it is a Manfrotto product. Very good quality for a lightweight compact stand. It packs small and ships well. Sturdy enough to hold the screen just fine. I'm really pleased.

I use two of these to hold up my Lastolite 6x9 folding backdrop. The tripods do a great job of supporting my backdrop and when I'm done they fold down to a very compact (portable) size. The quality of build is great and I plan to use these for many many years to come!

Very lightweight and clever. Great that it's so portable but I suspect that I will have to pay close attention to not abusing this stand as it is not a heavyweight/heavy duty unit. It is a great design for portability, however. We'll see how well it holds up over time. So far though, so good.

I like to carry several 5x7 backgrounds and then use the one that works best or what moves me. But I had just been clamping them to a light stand which was most unsatisfactory.
The Lastolite stand goes up quickly, attaches securely to the background and folds up quickly. Just what you need when shooting out of the studio!

We use the stands to hold a 6x9 Lastolite collapsible screen for some commercials we shoot. The stands did the job, no problem. I would have given 5 stars, but the clips made to hold the screen are difficult to clip onto the screen! When you do finally get them on, they hold GREAT! Good idea but hard for weak hands!
