Kata Koala-3 Mixer Case - for Medium Audio Mixers
The Kata Koala 3 Mixer Case is designed to carry and organize medium audio mixers and other essential sound equipment. Within Its wireless compartments, cables stay tangle free when you stow them in the storage area in the bottom of the case and feed them through handy connection ports. The case includes a BSS padded shoulder strap for carrying the case on your shoulder or across the chest. Or you can use the optional OVH Opposite V Harness for other working configurations.
- Main pocket houses your mixer and connectors.
- Koala's front pocket has room for up to 3-4 wireless mics and/or your power supply unit
- Zippered front compartment holds batteries, spare cables, and a videocassette for the cameraman.
- Two zipper pulls one on each side allows you to pull out 4 Antennas, 2 from each hole.
- Quick release side panels protect equipment from rain and dirt while offering swift access to connectors, controls and displays.
- Two straps to hold your boom while not working.
- When weather or location demand extra protection, unroll the Koala's vinyl top covering.
- The interior of the bag is made of a loop fabric called Yelloop to which you can attach the Modi-Vers dividers. It is a bright yellow material, so that the contents can be viewed with ease.
- All the wires can be transferred from one compartment to another while keeping all of them inside. There is a D ring for extra wires.
- BSS Shoulder Strap can also be used diagonally when attaching one end to the D ring. Or use the OVH Opposite V Harness for additional configurations.

I like the option of suspenders if carrying all day, fully loaded. Or the shoulder strap for shorter periods of time.

I was looking for a field production bag that could hold a 4-track Edirol R44 recorder along with two Audio Technica ATW-1800 recievers.
This bag seems to be nicely suited to the task although setting it up isn't as clear cut as I might have thought.
Bags like this usually don't come with any literature to explain the various pouches and straps, and this is one of them. For example, it's not clear how the wireless receivers should be mounted within the bag or how a recorder or mixer might be secured in its compartment.
It's all trial and error, so if you do get one be sure to set aside enough time to get familiar with it and sort out specifics.
The OVH harness comes separately and is probably a good idea if you or your soundman intends to be working with the rig for extended periods.
Construction quality is excellent, as is to be expected from Kata. I have some of their other bags and it's the same meticulous attention to detail that puts them at the top of my list.
