Minox's rectangular housings are certainly atypical in the world of monoculars, and the two offerings also have a unique left-right sliding focusing mechanism.

Comments about Minox MD 8x16 Monocular:
These little Minox monoculars are outstandingly handy to carry, beautifully made and optically superb. You can carry one of these with you everywhere - in situations where you'd leave your binoculars at home. The only problem is that you have to explain what it is to every airport security officer on the planet - but they're always thrilled and fascinated when they discover what a great little instrument the Minox monocular is. They're quite rare in North America and a great "conversation starter." This Minox belongs in every camera bag and carryon. Once you have one, you'll "never leave home without it."
