when you have hundreds of uncut negative rolls stored for years, you keep thinking: "some day I will scan 'em all". well, the only way to do it is to get a SA-30. the SA-21 that comes with the scanner it's just too time consuming, with only 6 frames at a time. with an average scan time of one minute per frame, you are practically tied up most of time. with the SA-30, scanning a full roll requires your intervention after 30-40 minutes, a much more reasonable interval. one word of caution: before attempting a scan of film which has been sitting in storage for 50 years, make sure you unroll it and let it stabilize for few days, or it will jam.

I purchased this to scan uncut rolls of 35mm film.
The scanner is very easy to set up and use. Now I can easily use my film camera as well as my digital.

I have spent countless hours scanning negatives with my Nikon Coolscan 5000 ED. Unfortunately, cut negatives require attention every so often. Hires scanning is slower by nature and it would take me all day to scan one roll b/c I wouldn't always get back to my computer when a cut strip was finished.

This adapter let's me put a roll in, set the parameters and walk away. When I come back a few hours later, all is finished and the entire roll is done. It's crucial to set this up high enough and with enough room to allow the roll to eject without getting on the floor (who likes scratches on their negatives? Not I!).

A great, quality product. I use the batch slide scanner as well with the same effectiveness.
