Comments about Nikon FH-835S 35mm Strip Film Holder:
Positives: This film holder is very useful for scanning 35mm film strips and most of the times does its job great. Price is not as expensive as other holders.
Cons:
It is all plastic and after few hundred loadings it needs to be replaced because the clipping mechanism will break very easy.

Comments about Nikon FH-835S 35mm Strip Film Holder:
I purchased this film holder as a replacement just in case Nikon discontinues them as it has their film scanners. I'm looking at modifying it to hold AN glass to remove film curl.

Comments about Nikon FH-835S 35mm Strip Film Holder:
If you own a 8000/9000 scanner and plan to scan 35mm film, you need this film holder. Not having it is not an option. I bought this one as a spare, just in case... On the "pro" side, it holds up to 12 frames at a time. On the "con" side, it doesn't do a very good job of holding the film flat, which results in portions of the frame being slightly out of focus. The best way to resolve this is to obtain 35mm wide strips of "anti-newton" glass to place over the negatives after they're in the film holder. This flattens the film and makes for much better scans. If Nikon included the glass in these film holders, I'd give them 5 stars. But they don't, so 4 stars is the best that I can do.

Although these are nearing "end of life", they were still in stock at better than auction prices. Second holders greatly improve throughput - you can load the second holder while the first is scanning.

Comments about Nikon FH-835S 35mm Strip Film Holder:
Hello,
I have the Nikon 5000 scanner with the wheel in which you can scan a whole uncut roll. That is "OK" but not as practical as one would think...
However using the Nikon 9000 scanner with this FH-835S 35mm Strip Film Holder is a genuine solution because most pro labs offer a "process and contact sheet" and will cut your 35mm into 6 strips of 6 frames.
So buy two more (in addition to the one supplied) and you can load all 6 strips at once and then be ready to scan all 36 frames with just 3 easy insertions of the tray into the scanner.
This is much easier than feeding 6 strips of 6 frames - one at a time - into your Nikon 5000 scanner.

Comments about Nikon FH-835S 35mm Strip Film Holder:
This is a touchy film holder that can easily get stuck in the scanner, if anything is not just so and even then should be carefully checked. Anything sticking forward or back even a little can get stuck. Often needing disassembling by Nikon, if under warranty.
