This is a HIGH quality lens, gives you WIDE hi-def shots with minimum bulk and weight (lightest and smallest I could find) all that with almost no distortion, On the down side this lens will "crash" before full zoom on my Canon G9/G7 but this is not a big issue anyhow as it is for WIDE ANGLE shots not ZOOM and can be removed with the push of a button. also there are virgnetting issues in full wide - just something to be aware of.......all an all great lens for the purpose.

purchased for canon hfs100 video camera. worked well at wide angle but could not zoom through 10x, maybe 6x. If you only want it for wide, great. but I actually use a wide angle at max zoom and low f-stop to give me the shallowest depth of field i can get with this small camera, so I am able to stand a little closer to my subject with a wa lens. I returned and purchased the HD7000 and leave it on most of the time

Comments about Raynox HD-6600 Pro 58mm 0.66x Wide Angle Converter Lens:
I bought this lens for my Canon HF S20 and 21 cameras since they do not have much of a wide viewing angle when working in tight quarters. I have only had this lens for two weeks but found it very useful. I mounted this lens on one of my cameras for floor shots to video my daughter's college dance team to get a second viewing perspective. I was extremely happy with the added viewing angle, amount of light the lens allows in and clarity of video. I also used the camera for another dance performance from bleachers that were not far away enough to shoot the entire team without this lens. The focal range of the lens was a little limited. My subjects stayed in focus as long as I did not zoom in more than about 70%. This was the only draw back I found to this lens. If your application for a zoom lens is mainly to capture a wide angle without doing progressive zooming, you will love this lens. The lens has very fine threads so you will need to be careful when threading it on the camera. It is not made to quickly put on and remove from camera. Very well made lens with quality glass and solid construction. Good price considering what you would pay for a comparable Canon lens. Lens came with sturdy plastic case, dust cover for threaded camera interface and nice snap on cover to protect lens when attached to camera. Love this lens!

I bought this lens for my Canon Vixia HF S200 to shoot indoors with and it really does the job. I can see little to no distortion on the edges and it gives a great image quality. Lens is nice and heavy so you can tell it's very well made.
The middle ring has a nice ribbed rubber grip that helps in screwing it on or off to the camera as well.
I have found this to be a cheaper alternative to Canon's WD-H58, and every bit as good.
Get it, you won't regret it!

Comments about Raynox HD-6600 Pro 58mm 0.66x Wide Angle Converter Lens:
The converter lens is lightweight and shows not geometric distortion. The only issue is when the camera is zoomed in more than 50%. In this case it shows light flaring and has soft focus. It's not designed for this anyway so you shouldn't expect any issues. I used it on my old Sony PD-150. Screwed right onto the 58mm thread.

I bought this for my new Canon Vixia HFS200. Since this is a mid-priced camcorder, I didn't want to spend the bigger money for a Canon or Century, and I thought I'd give this a try. [...]Quality of build seems great. Screwed right in to my 58 mm mount. Image is great, with no vignetting. Takes my Canon to about 26 mm wide (35mm equivalent), which is just short of fisheye, so you get just a touch of distortion, esp when panning. Not too big or heavy, so it doesn't add a lot of size to the camera - just enough.

Comments about Raynox HD-6600 Pro 58mm 0.66x Wide Angle Converter Lens:
I bought this lens because I love my Canon 50mm f/1.4 but sometimes the 50mm is just too narrow. I can't spend the money on a dedicated wide angle lens, so I knew I wanted a converter. This seems to be the best one out there. I've used other converters that create very significant distortion and, while it can be cool sometimes, it's not worth it to buy a cheap converter if you want to have crisp shots. With this lens, my 50mm becomes about a 33mm and there is hardly any noticeable difference in quality.

A good viewing angle, perfect for shooting indoors and in the crowd. Good quality, easy to use. What is missing is the lens hood 72mm.

I spent a lot of time scouring the net reading reviews for various wide angle lenses I could use with my Canon HFS-100. The general consensus was The Raynox HD-6600 was the best bang for the buck. Here's the pros:Fits perfect on the 58mm threads.Virtually no barrel distortion at full wide (unless your filming a grid or there are lots of straight lines on the edge). Some may not consider this a pro, but I like the added weight on the camera. It makes it much steadier so I get less camera shake.Cons:Doesn't work well once zoome passed 60%. You start to get the halo/double image. I knew this going in so am not concerned. If I need to zoom, I take the lens off.Lens flare. If you have bright light hitting the side of the camera, you'll get a lot of flare. Easily solved with a lens hood. That will be my next purchase. All in all it's a great value and am VERY satisfied with my purchase [...]

I have this lens mounted to a Lensmate on a G9. The increased field of view is fun and the lens is definitely as sharp as I had hoped for. However, the G9 lens bumps into this thing if you zoom in too far. When zoomed-out all the way, you get the widest angle but you also get black shadows in the corners.
Quirks aside, I feel like this is the best wide angle experience you could possibly get for the price.

This lens is well constructed and is consistently bright from the center to the edges. It has an advantage over the Canon lens in that it accepts filters. There is some vignetting, so you have to zoom in a bit. Overall a decent addition for the point-and-shoot user who doesn't want to go all out into the world of DSLR. Be careful, though; too many accessories and you might as well get the more expensive camera to start. Keep it small and light.
