A great bang-for-the-buck model with a broad 10-22x magnification range and large 50mm objectives, the Nikon 10-22x50 Action VII Zoom XL Binocular is Nikon's large zoom entry in their value-driven porro prism lineup. It features a 3.8° maximum field and 5mm exit pupil diameter at the 10x minimum magnification, with the capacity to zoom all the way to 22x magnification for intense study of wildlife and other unapproachable subject matter. A versatile instrument, it is one of the few zoom binoculars that provides a practical view throughout its range.
The Action VII Zoom XL shares much of the best traits of the Action VII fixed-magnification models: high-refraction prisms, multicoated objectives, protective rubber armor, and conventional peel-down style rubber eyecups. It is supplied with a tripod adapter, and the use of a monopod, tripod, or other support is highly recommended at the higher magnifications. Like all Nikon binoculars, the Action VII Zoom XL is backed by Nikon USA's lifetime "No Fault" warranty.

I love how far I can see and how clearly, but my only complaint is that they are a mite heavy for someone's bird-watching grandmother. All in all, though, I find the little extra bulk and weight are worth it for the positive tradeoffs. All the levers are smooth as silk.

The optics are acceptable and considering it is a Nikon product I would expect that. And since it is a zoom lens I don't expect the pristine visual that a fixed lens would offer.
My two major gripes are (1) the zoom tab is anything but smooth making a slow draw up to the image impossible. Perhaps I received the only one with a sticky zoom tab that I don't know. Secondly, it does come with a tripod adapter but since there are no instructions I'm no about to start drilling holes in an optical device.
I own several Nikon products and this ids the first one I couldn't assign a five star rating to.

Comments about Nikon 10-22x50 Action VII Zoom XL Binocular:
I bought this for my wife. We like to travel and go to a lot of National Parks. I take photos of the wildlife with a tripod mounted DSLR and long telephoto zoom. The wife has been using 8 power hand held binocs while I do this. She has been unhappy and could not seem to use a spotting scope we borrowed from a friend. These zoom Nikon binocs are exactly what she has been seeking. We have mounted them on both a tripod and a monopod. She has been able to use the zoom (to 22X) and loves it. Of course the tripod is much better that the monopod but the monopod is much better than hand held. We are considering adding a window mount to the kit.

These binoculars are easy to use and the focus is very sharp. Not quite as heavy as others users have mentioned. Looking forward to using them for to spot the first deer and to see the tip up.

This is a very poor quality Binocular. It has a very crude mechanism for changing the magnification. The lens coatings appear to be very minimal.

Comments about Nikon 10-22x50 Action VII Zoom XL Binocular:
This is the first set of binoculars that I purchased on my own. I've recently been using my work's Nikon Monarch binoculars and absolutely loved them. Thus, I decided to give Nikon a try. Didn't have the $ for Monarch and I am not an avid birder (although I might increase my time spent birding now!) so I couldn't justify the purchase, but I am a biologist and need my own decent set for at home and when I am out and about in Nature. Well, needless to say I am thrilled with the purchase. Obviously, at higher power this doesn't compare to the Monarch, but to be honest this is better overall when adding in the $ component (i.e., not a tremendous loss in clarity, and at lower powers they are virtually identical). These were a bit larger than expected, but given the dimensions they are also lighter than expected. What I really like is that I don't need to buy a set with higher power, but might need to get a smaller waterproof set in the future for viewing in all situations. I am 100% satisfied with this purchase!

Needed a good set of Binos that didn;t break the bank and worked well...These are easy to use, come in a great carry case with strap and covers and are well worth the price. Nikon is a known name so can be confident with quality...I am from Australia and I ordered them from the US dew to the rip off prices they charge here ([$]) Product [...] was outstanding,,,Thanks B&H

The binoculars are great. I use them to observe and identify wild horses from a distance of 50-250 meters.
Very sharp view. A fantasctic observational tool.
A bit heavy, especially when carried for several hours but worth the outcome.

We have a farm and my husband loves to be able to look up on the ridge to see what cow or other animal is up there. These binoculars bring everything in very clear and he can see further with these than his last ones. He is very happy with these and I will definitely buy Nikon binoculars again.

Comments about Nikon 10-22x50 Action VII Zoom XL Binocular:
I've bought this binocular to use as a trekking accompanion and I'm also using this on the shooting range to check my scores. It has all the features what I was looking for: huge magnification with zoom functionality, great 50 mm lenses and exccellent japanese quality for a very affordable price. I never handled a multi thousand dollar binocular therefore I cannot compare, but I would never need better binocular than this. The only drawdown is the lens cap, which comes off too easily and you can loose it while you walking.

The product was purchased specifically for viewing NFL games and this product lives up to its billing. The adjustments are precise and easy to use, the binocs are not too heavy and the tripod mount comes in handy when sharing views of other things like wildlife viewing. I would definitely recommend to other buyers!

Comments about Nikon 10-22x50 Action VII Zoom XL Binocular:
Bought this in-store and compared with other similar priced zoom offerings and the Nikon clearly came out as a winner. The large front optics also make it well suited for low light conditions and the zoom is just great when you just need that extra bit of magnification. I find the handling extremely good and the size enables you to hold it very steady and the non-slip coating gives you a nice grip and feel. Love the 2 in 1 eyepiece cover that attaches to the strap. Would have liked to see a similar arrangement for the front covers. Overall this is THE binocular for those that are looking for a reasonably priced zoom from a solid manufacturer.

Comments about Nikon 10-22x50 Action VII Zoom XL Binocular:
Great piece of equipment. I am a varmint hunter used to very long range shooting. This set of binoculars has replaced my spotting scope. It has greater depth of field as well as a wider view pattern. While the focus does not stay consistent throughout the zoom this is only a minor inconvience. The picture is extremely clear at all ranges of zoom. The tripod mount is very valuable for target and longrange viewing.
