Novoflex Lens Mount Adapter - Leica "R" Lens to Canon EOS Body
Allows a Leica R type lens to be mounted unto a Canon EOS type camera.
Although the lens will fit physically, automatic diaphragm (AE metering), or any other functions are not retained using this adapter. In this case you will need to meter in "stop-down mode" since the lens does not have the ability to have its aperture controlled by the camera body.

This is a good product....i am however dissapointed to discover that it does not accept all the leica R lenses...eg 21mm 24mm and others as the mirror on the 5D hits the back element and is unusable. It fits well and there is no play in the mount. I wish Novoflex would inform us of this

There are other versions of this adapter that will do you just fine. This one cost almost as much as the used R series lens i bought it for.

I have 3 Leica R lenses , a 28 , a 50 and a 90 and now I can use them with a Canon body and get all the image quality that only Leica can provide.
You have to use then "old school way", meaning you only can select the M mode.

I didn't buy the Leica Digital Modul R before they stopped producing them. This adapter makes it possible to use my R lenses on a Canon digital body. The adaptor is beautifully built - unlike many of the cheaper versions. The lenses fit snugly and firmly. Like all such adapters, it's a compromise - stop down metering only OR focus at full aperture, read the aperture/speed recommended, stop down.

The adapter is for adapting Leica R lenses to a Canon EOS body. Due to the short MTL distance Canon EOS can adapt wide variety of lenses from other manufacturers. However all the communications between the camera and the lens will be lost and only manual stop-down metering will work.
The strength is its mechanical quality - it is probably the adapter that you won't had to worry about separation of pieces, infinity focus, or lose/over tight fit.
The weakness is obvious the price - there are many quality adapters out there that work as well on most R lenses at less than 30% of the price. The quality of the Novoflex only evidence on heavy telephotos.
Another weakness (may actually be strength sometimes) is that the adapter does not have mimic Canon chip that provide auto-focus confirmation. However most chips are poorly coded and can potentially fried your camera; some may feel better manual focus themselves as well so YMMV.
