The afternoon was dim and stormy as I entered the soundless hall. There before me was a scene of such horror that I was unable to stifle a scream. Dim recesses and hollows which had never have seen the day, (and perhaps never should) Blinding lights which could only have been summoned from the depths of hell.
I staggered backwards as the piteous inhabitants looked upon me with fear and disdain, knowing full well what I had come to do. My anguished cry had alerted them to the abomination before them and they had now begun to whimper and cry out for help. They staggered into a corner, fearful, cowering, as my shrill voice declared "fear not pathetic creatures of the night, I shall redeem you!" I reached into my breast pocket, and in my hand I held a device of gleaming silver. Some of the inhabitants tried to run. "Do not test my patience, you will remain still!" They looked upon the device with uncontrollable dread, ignorant of it's power in the hands of a master. I plunged forward and held it to their wretched faces.
I gazed in wonder at it's secrets, once hidden, now emblazoned across it's visage.
I held the device high above my fetid brow, and declared to the heavens "f5.6 at a 60th of a second! Begone you devils of darkness and light!" Alas, the truth was too much for my cowering subjects, as they crept into the waiting night. But thanks to my Sekonic L-358, I was able to get some perfectly exposed frames.

I bought this product to use with Pocket Wizards. I couldn't get it to fire my flash units if I was more than 3 feet away.. The flash units were fine as they would flash with my camera from 30 feet away. I'm sure this was just a faulty unit, however I was very disappointed with it. I immediately called B&H and worked out a return and bought the L-758DR[...]So there is a happy ending to the story as the 758 is terrific...

Comments about Sekonic L-358 Flash Master Meter - Silver:
Shooting with off camera flash on manual always cost a lot of time trying to get the exposure "just right". With this meter, I get to spend more time playing with light instead of finding my starting point. I was on the fence between this meter and the L-308S. I watched all the webinars on Sekonic's website and got to see the extra features on the L-358 and that made up my mind. The meter is smaller than in looks in photos and fits your hand well. I definitely won't regret this purchase.

Easy to use and transport. Two ISO values can be kept in memory and after initial light reading you can change the priority exposure parameter value and get a new value for the other two (very convenient).

If you purchase this meter there is no need for the more expensive ones. This does everything you need as a Pro. Just a little complex setting it up with the new pocket wizard flex.

Comments about Sekonic L-358 Flash Master Meter - Silver:
I use this in the ordinary way you use light meters. It takes both incident and reflected readings. The display is large and the controls make sense. This meter has the capability to control multiple flashes by installing an optional wireless transceiver that works with the Pocket Wizard system. Have not installed this yet but am looking forward to setting this up.
I have an Ezbalance 30 18% grey card I use with this meter to verify exposures during a shoot. The card is thirty inches diagonal. When used with a in-camera meter then taking a second reading with the Sekonic, helps to nail exposures perfectly.
There are spot metering attachments and other accessories. When combined they produce a powerful and flexible metering system.
Great meter. Spot-on tool!

Comments about Sekonic L-358 Flash Master Meter - Silver:
I purchased this primarily to scouting for video and do lighting ratios. I do still photography also and want a meter that could also assist me with flash. This units lacks some film functions, but for what I need is very adequate. I purchased this over the 308 film version because it has memory, 2 asa settings, swivel head, spot meter options and better flash features. The meter is very easy to use with a pretty easy interface. My only real knock is the very lame labeling on the case which in some lighting or viewing angles is like disappearing ink.

Use this product for...
- macro
- portraits
- off camera flash setups
- still life
The features and the price are what attracted me to this product. The meters with the spot option were much too expensive for me as a hobbyist. If you don't need a spot meter often then this model is for you. No buyers regret...

After years and years of using my Minolta light meter it finally gave out on me
and I lost touch on what light meters were even out there... I discovered the Sekonic L-358 and it's everything I want in a light meter. I'm very happy with the product.

Great product, chose this over the 308 because the 358 is calibratable. Only downfall is the non-standard battery... would have loved to see AA's.

Comments about Sekonic L-358 Flash Master Meter - Silver:
I bought this meter to replace an older L-358 that stop taking flash measurements either on the "T" mode or the remote using pocket wizards. After just 4 months of use I am experiencing the same exact problem. I do not expect this from a [$]flash meter. Is not accurate and is made of cheap plastic.I am now buying a Gossen meter after wasting [$] on the cheap Sekinic meter.

I have to use this thing mostly for school but I can see that it is going to be a great tool for me to have in my kit bag. Awesome and I didnt have to pay 600+ dollars for the 538 and still get the features I need.

Comments about Sekonic L-358 Flash Master Meter - Silver:
I bought this meter primarily to assist with fill flash. The accuracy right out of the box was perfect. The meter gives you not only the correct exposure but the percent contribution of the flash. That information tells me exactly how the light is going to look in the finished image. Sekonic has training videos on their site which do a very good job of demonstrating their meters. Watching those videos convinced me that this was the meter I wanted.
