Berol China Markers are a lab standard for editing , because they mark on almost any porous or non-porous material without scratching the surface.
They allow you to write on photos without it being permanent.
The wax color rubs off with a soft cloth or tissue. To sharpen simply peel for more marker.

Comments about Berol China Marker (Grease Pencil)-Yellow:
Never used these before, but someone recommended them and they worked marvelously. Great pencils, and I love the no-need-to-sharpen solution with the peel-off paper. As a no-mess alternative to liquid wax, I used them to draw patterns on Easter eggs, then dyed the eggs. A little messy to remove, but a little grease/lard and a paper towel works well. I use natural dyes like onion peel, red cabbage, etc. and those don't rub off this way, especially if you scrub the eggs clean with vinegar water first.
