Comments about Carl Heavy Duty DC-220 15" Rotary Disc Cutter:
This trimmer does a very good job once you get the hang of it - the clamping and the magnetic guide take a bit of getting used to. I don't use it for single sheet trimming, but if I'm making the same cut repeatedly and don't want to break out my stack cutter it's great.
It won't cut through 20 sheets of heavy text weight or 5 sheets of cardstock - probably 10 text and 3 cardstock, but there's no fanning and it's easy to use.
The measurements on the platform are accurate, it came with both a regular and perforating blade.

Comments about Carl Heavy Duty DC-220 15" Rotary Disc Cutter:
I'm a Artist/Crafter that hates products that don't hold up to even occassional use. So I do my research, and ask around about products before I was my money on them. Everyone I spoke to that had a Carl Cutter was thrilled by their durability and the ease of use. I ordered my from B&H for their price (great deal!) [...] I had it on the desk and was using it in less then 5 minutes. I am thrilled with both B&H and my new Carl Cutter. Money well spend!!

Comments about Carl Heavy Duty DC-220 15" Rotary Disc Cutter:
I use this product to create 16 page booklets. The cutter worked great straight out of the box, and the locking cutting system works really well. I was able to cut 16 sheets of photocopy paper very cleanly, and with absolutely no force at all.
The cutting strip did however come out of it's track after a couple of uses, but a small strip of double-sided sticky tape to hold it in place fixed that issue immediately.
The cutter also comes with a spare cutting strip, and blade which is a great value. For the price, I am really pleased with my purchase.

Comments about Carl Heavy Duty DC-220 15" Rotary Disc Cutter:
Quality, Economical, easy to store, easy access to blades & mattes, EASY to use from the start, best use is for BULK Cardstock or paper....key word is BULK USE on a SMALL SCALE.
CON: can only cut down to about 2 1/4" width (but there are ways to work around some of that as well).
CON: wouldn't bother for using for NON-bulk cutting. While it is accurate for it. It is not as quick as other cutters for a few sheets at a time.
CUTTING AMOUNTS: I have found that you can cut approx. 13 sheets of Whisper White Stampin' Up Cardstock and about 10 of the Neutrals & color CS's (depends on the #of the CS)
TIP: This will make the cuts MUCH more accurate
Purchase a "L" square ruler (~$5-6) from a hardware store. The metal ruler part will need some thickness under it to keep it level so put a few pieces of (all the same thickness) of rubber stamp scraps (if your a stamper) or use a thick Rubberized DOT that you can get for keep furniture from scratching) stuck to the under side of the ruler part. This will do two things. Keep it level and keep it in place. This is used to press up against the LONG BLUE MAGNETIC GUIDE that comes with your cutter.
USE WITH THE GUIDE: The guide is NOT accurate for CUTTING SQUARE all on its own. This added ruler tool will keep your CS cuts accurate! By placing the ruler up against the edge of the guide & the top or bottom edge it creates a VERY square and accurate cut!
I LOVE my CARL CUTTER! I have used it A LOT over the past 5+yrs and have never had any problems with it.
While you might think that adding the ruler part is a CON. I LOVE and TRUST this cutter so much that to me it is just a part of using it!

Comments about Carl Heavy Duty DC-220 15" Rotary Disc Cutter:
I already have a guillotine cutter but I need a rotary cutter for straighter and very precise cuts. I mainly use it for trimming photographic papers size 11"x14" and, sometimes, thin boards. The 15" cutter fits my needs just right and its cost is reasonable. The product is well built, lightweight and easy to use, with instructions in pictures at the bottom of the board and a "secret" compartment that contains two extra blades. I am pleased with this purchase and would recommend this product to my friends.

Comments about Carl Heavy Duty DC-220 15" Rotary Disc Cutter:
Purchased as a birthday gift for my wife. No clear instructions were included so a quick start guide would have been a good addition. I had to spend a few minutes to figure out how to use it, then demonstrate it to my wife. It is easy to use and I like the feature allowing you to clamp your work in place so you get straight cuts. The alternate arm type cutters tend to make crooked cuts when multiple sheets of paper are cut at once because the paper sheets wander as the blade cuts through them. This rotary cutter allowed us to cut multiple sheets at once while maintaining straight cuts. It is slightly slower to use than the alternate arm type cutters, but if you prefer accuracy over speed, I would recommend one of these rotary cutters. The warranty provided by Carl looks like they stand behind their products.
