Hoya 52mm Circular Polarizing Glass Filter
Circular Polarizer - Light rays which are reflected become polarized. Polarizing filters are used to select which light rays enter your camera lens. They can remove unwanted reflections from non-metallic surfaces such as water or glass and also saturate colors providing better contrast. The effect can be seen through the viewfinder and changed by rotating the filter. The filter factor varies according to how the filter is rotated and its orientation to the sun.
NOTE: Circular polarizers are specifically designed for use with auto-focus SLR cameras (They will also work on manual systems and video cameras without problems).
- This filter eliminates ultraviolet rays to remove haze from outdoor shots as well as polarizing the light to remove reflections, and increase color saturation, without affecting the overall color balance

This is a great, well-constructed glass circular polarizing filter that works exactly as advertised. I generally leave this filter on the camera as I shoot mostly outdoors. However, I do remove it for low light and indoor shots to allow for more ambient light and increase shutter speed.

while i have always found circular polarizers to be a bit annoying at times, especially with a lens hood, i found that with this one i had a steeper learning curve. the grey was a darkish blue, and the blue was somehow a lighter blue. once i figured this all out, the polarizer seemed to be working overtime to make up for my earlier frustration. it works.

This is a filter feels very solid and it has great clarity. I didnt notice much of any color temp change. I used this filter to take the glare off of a glass display case for a restaurant shoot and it worked great!

*as always, the circular polarizer does great under the right conditions. if the lighting is coming from the wrong angle, or the scene is too dark already, then it's not much help. also, it darkens the exposure by 2-4 stops. but all that is to be expected in this filter. beyond that, it does exactly what it needs to do, controls the flare and reflections in your photos.

If you shoot outdoors in good sunlight, you MUST have a good polarizing filter. The colors come alive outside, cuts down on the glare, and protects the lens. Great purchase
