Circular Polarizer - Light rays which are reflected become polarized. Polarizing filters are used to select which light rays enter your camera lens. They can remove unwanted reflections from non-metallic surfaces such as water or glass and also saturate colors providing better contrast. The effect can be seen through the viewfinder and changed by rotating the filter. The filter factor varies according to how the filter is rotated and its orientation to the sun.
NOTE: Circular polarizers are specifically designed for use with auto-focus SLR cameras (They will also work on manual systems and video cameras without problems).

Haven't been able to play around with it too much, but the little I have so far seems very good. Good quality. Tip I did receive - take off the UV filter before putting this one on - good to know because I would have just plopped it on top. Makes it a bit more of a pain to use, but totally worth the great skies you will receive with it.

It fits my lenses fine and mounts easy enough. Once mounted, the turning mechanism is fine. Even at the darkest setting, the difference is noticeable, but not as much as I expected. I'm not sure if my hopes were too high, or if a more expensive unit would yield greater results.
What I should have done (and might do) is go to a local store to see if I can try out Nikon's CP filter, and then take the same picture with this Hoya filter. If you have the option of trying out a more expensive unit locally, I would recommend that. Then when you get this unit, you'll know if you want to keep it or not.
Like I said, maybe my hopes were too high and this filter peforms well. I don't know, it's my first one. I just wish the blues and greens were more punchy. It definitely takes you down a stop or two though, but that's normal for a CP filter.

Comments about Hoya 67mm Circular Polarizer Glass Filter:
You can spend a lot more on a CPL and I have but honestly this filter is really well made and works as well as others I own that were twice the price. It's glass, it doesn't feel cheap, and the images are great. about the only thing I would change is the thickness. I'm used to a thin wall filter so this one is about twice as thick. I don't use it on a wide lens so it's perfect and a lot easier to operate than the thin mount when wearing gloves.

This is a great filter for those who use to shot outdoor. You get a real blue sky, and eliminate or emphasizes reflexes over the water or glass. It's a must have for outdoor photographers.

Comments about Hoya 67mm Circular Polarizer Glass Filter:
The polarizer works very nicely and creat good contrast between the sky and the clouds. However, the construction of the filter is too thick and causes vignetting (the protective filter of the lens has been removed before adding the polarizer on)

Comments about Hoya 67mm Circular Polarizer Glass Filter:
Don't buy it if you are using a Tamron 17-50 mm lens. It will vignette all the way up to the 35mm. Even if you use it without a UV filter, it doesn't matter. I was advised to buy a wide-CP filter, but that vignettes too.
