This product is GREAT! Used as either a shoulder bag or a back pack my second shooter and I are very confident that my gear is well organized and SAFE. If I drop the bag the pockets and padding absorb the impact. I would recommend this bag to any professional photog.

Fabulous bag to carry and protect lenses and other gear with. I use the Pelican bag slung over my shoulder and when in transit it fits easily in a Pelican case for maximum protection of my expensive lenses.

I bought this bag to help contain all of my photography and small video equipment. I fly on Blackhawk helicopters and the padding and room of this bag is great. Plenty of room and pockets. Great bag!

When I went to use the backpack feature the first time one strap basically tore away from the bag. Luckily, the other strap held and I didn't completely drop the bag.

After the backpack strap failed, I started using the shoulder strap. That worked fine for a while, until it tore away from the bag as well. Again, I was lucky that nothing inside was damaged.

I really liked the way this bag works....but the first time I used it the shoulder strap broke loose at the clip attachment. Upon close inspection it looks like the nylon end of the strap clip was not sewn to the bag properly. Otherwise I would give this bag a higher rating...[...]Very nice bag for location shoots. Great zippers...I just worry the [*]construction may be a bit less for quality control..?We will see how the replacement fares.

I looked for an easy access and versatile bag for a full year . That included reading specifications and owner reviews on all camera bags in the B&H on-line list ; plus handling in-stock bags in a number of photographic stores .
The Pelican PCS152 at B&H beat all others .
The photo does not do it justice , as the two side pockets can be expanded sideways about five inches and will hold many individual items .

For me the bag stores :
(a) A D40 Nikon with 70-300 AF-S VR lens attached .
(b) A Nikon 18-55 AF-S Lens .
(c) A Nikon 18-105 AF-S VR lens , sunshade reversed .
(d) A Nikon 35mm f/1.8 AF-S lens .
(e) A Nikon 55-200 AF-S VR lens .
(f) A Nikon 50mm f/1.8D lens .
(g) And there's room for two more lenses .

The bag would also hold two DSLRs both with , say, 70-300 size lenses attached , plus about four other lenses . With both expandable side pockets and the front pocket , the amount of batteries , chargers , filters , flashes , etc., packable is substantial .
My use is for home storage and for transport by car to shoot sites and walkabouts . It carries easily by the top handles . I never use the carry strap , nor carry it while out on shoots .

The very best feature is to simply lay it on its' side , quickly unzip the large side door and the camera(s) and lenses are all visible to obtain . No hassle with multiple & awkward press buckles , flaps , or hidden zippers . And there's no
digging involved .

The bag is a great idea and a perfect size but Pelican allowed a third party to use their name on this bag. It appears to be well made but the lower backpack straps are not attached properly. On the second short hike with 3 lenses, a camera body and light travel tripod one of the lower backpack straps tore completely off and I nearly lost the backpack.

I needed a carry on bag that would fit all my gear yet be easy to take everywhere with me. This bag is pretty much perfect. I can carry the following:

Main Compartment -
Canon XT w/Tamron 17-50mm f2.8 (with hood reversed) attached;
Canon XT w/Canon 75-300mm USM III attached;
Tamron 200-500mm with hood reversed & tripod collar
Tamron 28-75mm f2.8 with hood
430EX Flash
HD80 Portable Storage Device
rangefinder
set of 3 extender tubes
multiple filters (8- 58mm & 6 -67mm)

Front pocket -
battery charger
extra battery
memory cards
cleaning kit

Inside pockets -
extra hard drive for PSD & small screwdriver

Outside side pockets -
large blower
2 Plamps
2 small collapsible reflectors
2 plastic rain ponchos (one for me, one for the bag if I get caught in a downpour)

That's without expanding the side compartments to remain carry-on size, but there is no extra room at all.

I did add one customization to the bag. I bought a California Innovations softsided cooler with detachable "rugged trolley". The trolley has big plastic wheels that roll over dirt trails, cobblestones, etc. (not snow or sand) and the bag's "luggage slot" slips over the trolley handle. Then I use the tripod straps to attach the bag to the legs. On flights, if room is tight, I simply remove the trolley and store them separately. For snow and sand, I remove the tolley and use the backpack straps. The rest of the time I drag it along without worry.

I do agree with a previous user that while there are lots of dividers, there are never enough (what bag ever does).

To figure out size (measurements aren't always that helpful):

The 200-500mm lens fits perfectly vertically. The 430EX just fits depthwise (back to front of flash corresponding to back to front of bag) - a diffuser pushes it too far out.
The Tamron 28-75mm with hood and the Canon 75-300mm fit vertically one on top of the other.
The 2 XT bodies fit perfectly facing downwards (using the top access) in a sideways position (grips toward the front of the bag) with the 200-500mm camera side up in between.
The 200-500mm will fit horizontally in the bag with just a bit of room to spare. Putting the 430EX in that space sideways makes it very tight but doable.

This bag is perfect for taking on-site. It carries my two cameras (a 1D Mark III and my backup D30 w/battery grip), 4 lenses, extra batteries for both cameras, filters, and cables in the body. It also has a zippered pouch on the flap that holds plenty. There are also external pockets to carry extra accessories. I have the bag set-up like the picture shown, BUT it can also be configuared to be top opening also, not just from the side. The bag is well padded and thanks to velcro, all the padded seperators can be rearranged to hold items securely. The bag is the perfect size to take as a carry-on for flights. But if you need to check the bag or send it someplace, it fits inside of a Pelican 1520 hard case perfect.

I was looking for a camera bag with some of these features to contain my growing collection of junk, and with the Pelican name on it, how could I go wrong? It allows top or side access of my camera even with the longest lens attached and has ample storage for the remaining 4 lenses and accessories. Although one probably could stuff 2 bodies and 5 lenses ++ in this bag, my opinion is that may be too overcrowded to be useful. You get lots of Velcro dividers and options but I found myself wishing for more. I also wish it had a dedicated battery/memory card organizer too. Lots of zippered compartments, it converts to a backpack, and carries a tripod too make this one really nice bag. For storage, travel, and harsh elements, I keep it all inside a Pelican hard case for peace of mind. If you need a bag like this one, I highly recommend this one and buy it here.
