for those looking into getting tighter shots than a 0.7x lens, and be carrying the lightest load, this is the lens. its a single lens element so zooming with this lens is not recommended. i have this attached to my canon hf10 and gives a very nice 24mm equivalent field of view. the corners of course have their blur, but its actually very little and the majority of the picture is actually sharp. a cool discovery i stumble upon is that i was able to use this on my canon g9. the lens is actually very small and very lightweight, enough that ive used double sided tape and attached it to the end of the g9's barrel. the pictures turned out amazing. if you are thinking of doing the same, you will need to set your camera to macro mode because of its single element consctruction. but with that, my g9 looks like its got a 20mm lens attached it! the videos on the g9 also looks amazing! im sure it will work with other digicams. also it works awesome with your camera phone! ive found that the very lightweight and small design of this lens, you can actually attach it to anything that has optics to get a very nice wide shot. believe me this lens is small! have fun with it!

I use this item with a Sony hdr CX100 digital video camera for video shoots while skydiving. Since this lens is larger and needs the included step down ring to fit the 30mm lens opening, the camera and lens barely fit inside the cookie helmet box. the hole needs to be bigger in front ot the mounting hole needs to be moved further forward.

This is an incredible lens for my Sony CX150 HD Camera. There is no vignetting and the video is crystal clear. I would strongly recommend to anyone looking for the "top of the line" lens at a very reasonable cost.

Comments about Century Precision Optics DS-55WA-37 0.55x Wide Angle Adapter:
I purchased this adapter to use on my HD mini camcorder inside the underwater housing I use in the ocean. The low profile of the adapter allows the clearance necessary from the front port. The optical quality is good and the adapter provides the wide angle I needed without the rim of the port encroaching into the field of view. I use a cheaper lightweight housing that doesn't support a wide angle port so this was the perfect solution. I had to bypass the controls on the housing and use the remote in a waterproof bag as the camcorder when plugged into the control cord of the housing would not allow focus with the adapter even wih the camcorder set for WA conversion. Using on-cam filters changes the focal distance to the adapter so a set of filters for the adapter may be necessary.

Comments about Century Precision Optics DS-55WA-37 0.55x Wide Angle Adapter:
I already had a wide angle lens, but the image was blurred all around. That's why I decided to buy this product, more compact and giving a perfect image.
The only point, I knew before buying this lens, is that it does not allow to zoom. I have a Sony HDR-CX520 and it allows to zoom may be one third of the maximum before it becomes blurred.

Comments about Century Precision Optics DS-55WA-37 0.55x Wide Angle Adapter:
Using this wide angle lens with Sony cx105 hd video camera provides good enough quality optics to record hd-level material with wide enough field of view to record properly tandem skydives from training to jump itself to landing. The thinness and lightness of the lens does not add extra weight to the camera setup.
Only drawback is that due to the 1-ens configuration the zoom-through functionality is lost.

Comments about Century Precision Optics DS-55WA-37 0.55x Wide Angle Adapter:
First off, I use this lens in a pretty harsh environment. I'm a skydiving videographer and I mount this lens to a Sony CX100 HD camcorder. The picture quality from this lens is superb. I was having a fogging issue from a Raynox lens before this one and after getting this one... no more fog. Also the Raynox was much bigger and heavier. The low profile aspect of this lens is a huge plus in my line of work. It's lighter, smaller and slimmer.
The only thing I wish it did was allow me to zoom through it and this it does not do. That's ok however because in freefall I don't use the zoom much anyway. :P Thank you Century Optics for creating a quality product in such a small package.

Comments about Century Precision Optics DS-55WA-37 0.55x Wide Angle Adapter:
I bought this adapter for use with Sony CX 100 camcorder in skydiving and other outdoors activities.
Unlike some other wide angle adapters (e.g.Raynox 3030) it is single element which has its pluses and minuses.
Pluses: very light weight, small, does not fog in wet environments. Weight and size are critical for me as it reduces snag hazard and impact on my neck (camcorder is mounted on the helmet)
Minuses: it can not be used with zoom function on camcorder
This adapter provides great HD quality and is reasonably priced.
I highly recommend it as long as you do not expect it to do things that it is not designed to do.

I'm mainly using this lense on my HF200 for indoor shots and some outdoor, it really makes the field of view much wider. It has a low profile design with a single element. However you can't zoom with it. Has some distortion.

I use this lens to film snowboarding and skateboarding. Its low profile design keeps the bulk off of my camcorder and the screw-on metal caps are a plus too. It could be a little wider, but you should never have to see the lens in your shot. Highly recommended.

I didn't realize the zoom feature on my camera would not work with this lens. As soon as I started to zoom it went blurry. It is a fantastic lens for wide shots and I was pleased with it's capability when not zooming.

Comments about Century Precision Optics DS-55WA-37 0.55x Wide Angle Adapter:
This is a great lens that creates an exceptional wide angle shot for its size. I got this to use with my HF11 and was very surprised how small it was, only about the size of three stacked poker chips. My only complaint is that it only allows you to zoom about 3 - 4x before not being able to focus, but you cant really complain considering how small it is and what it is made to do. It came with screw on lens caps for the front and back, step up rings, and a large lens bag (which is able to hold my lens hood, wide angle lens, and cleaning tissues with room to spare).

Comments about Century Precision Optics DS-55WA-37 0.55x Wide Angle Adapter:
I purchased this for use with my Canon HF10 HD Camcorder and it's the best purchase I've made since the HF10 it's self. I did like most people who don't know any better and found the least expensive wide angle lens that would fit my camcorder and I learned that, with HD camcorders at least, you get what you pay for. More importantly, why lessen your investment by down grading the qaulity your camera with a cheap accessory. This thing rocks; it provides an extremely useful wide angle and doesn't lessen the HD quality at all, it's build solid (if not a little small), and it's not so expensive, a little more than twice what you'll pay for some peace of junk. I wish every accessory I've purchased for my Canon was so good.

Comments about Century Precision Optics DS-55WA-37 0.55x Wide Angle Adapter:
Small inconspicuous Wide Angle adapter that delivers a very wide angle of view on a Pana PV GS320.
There is obvious visible distortion when filming buildings and other straight lines, but not annoying. Perfect for filming social gathering or landscape once you get used to it.
Scary to handle since this 'single' lens WA adapter protrudes quite a bit, so I bought a 34-52 step up ring and a 52 UV filter that stays. With the ring, no vignetting and the UV does not touch the WA lens.
This is a single lens WA adapter and does not allow zooming (will loose focus), but a 0.55 WA that handles zoom is not in the same price league nor weight.
I feel like I dwelt on the shortcomings and warnings, but it is a great piece of glass that makes a huge difference when filming, 5 stars deserved when considering the price.
