This filter is used for photography with infrared films. Infrared film is also sensitive to ultraviolet rays and the shorter wavelengths of the visible spectrum so it is necessary to filter out all but the infrared rays. Hoya makes two types of infrared filters: R72 passes only infrared rays above 720nm; RM90 passes only that above 900nm.

I am shooting landscapes.
I haven't gotten the B&W infrared film processed yet, but it works good on my D700.

Comments about Hoya 67mm RM72 Infrared Glass Filter:
The results of the filter work as exptected. However it is darker that I thought. The picture has to be setup without the filter and then put it on for the image.

Comments about Hoya 67mm RM72 Infrared Glass Filter:
This filter works as advertised and gives great results. When used with a Nikon D70 in camera metering works perfectly and different results can be achieved by just changing the aperture. Frame the shot, focus, and then place the filter on the lens. A tripod is a must.
