CompressorBank from McDSP is a compressor plug-in for Digidesign's Pro Tools systems that has been designed to emulate the sounds of vintage and modern analog compressors. Unlike their hardware competitors, DAW (Digital Audio Workstations) generally have an open architecture that allows gifted individuals to develop high-end plug-ins that contribute to the overall success of the parent system. While it's true that it is possible to insert a vintage hardware compressor into an analog board, patching 24 or more of them would require the financial resources of kings - and then that still doesn't address the issue of total recall.
CompressorBank gives the user complete control of dynamic compression. Common controls such as output (make-up gain), threshold, compression (ratio), attack, and release are provided. Non-standard Knee and Bite controls allow unique articulation of compression characteristics. Multiple peak detection circuit types provide flexibility only previously achieved by owning different compression units while side chain support, side chain or in-line pre-filtering, and a static/dynamic EQ section (post compression) round out the signal processing capabilities of an already very capable compressor.
