Hoya Cross Screen filters have a surface that is etched with a fine grid pattern. Depending on the pattern, point light sources and reflections create multi-beam stars.
Hoya's Star 6 Cross Screen is designed so that a 6-point star is created from point light sources and reflections.

Comments about Hoya 58mm (6 Point) Star Effect Glass Filter:
I opted for the 6 point Star Effect simply because it gives more sparkle than the 4 point but I felt the 8 point was a little too much. It fits my camera perfectly and adds a nice touch to photos with any kind of lighting that you would like to draw attention to.

Comments about Hoya 58mm (6 Point) Star Effect Glass Filter:
I have had a lot of fun with this filter. It works best on single points of light. It doesn't like flourescent lights, or even lamps with shades. However, it is great with a sunset, candlelight, street lights, headlights. Whatever light source is available, this filter will throw a 6-pointed star around it. The most fun I've had yet was at the Smithsonian Gem Collection. I could catch the light off the jems and make stars with the filter. Lots of fun. Definately a worthwhile purchase. I bet it would be great in night-time Las Vegas!
