The Hoya 46mm Ultraviolet UV(0) Haze Filter is a wise initial investment. It helps protect your valuable investment from dust, moisture and scratches, which can lead to costly repairs. The "C" on the filter ring designates Hoya's thinner design for this filter. The result is an average light transmission of over 97% giving sharp contrast and well balanced color. Hoya HMC filters are recommended for enhancing the performance of today's multicoated digital lenses.
Multicoated to minimize reflection at the filter surfaces which reduces flare and ghosting.

Reasonable priced Multi-Coated Filter from reputable Hoya. I purchased it for Panasonic HD camcorder HDC-TM700, it is slim and fits the lens well, on top of that I apply the lens hood comes with the camcorder, it looks very nice with this combination.
The Multi-Coated glass is excellent quality, the flash light is between the filter and lens, so I worry the reflection will ruins the picture, guess what? There is no difference between using flash or not, the picture quality looks the same (@14M resolution).
Just so you know, there is a tiny issue when using this combination, although not the filter's fault at all. On active O.I.S mode and pan fast, the two opposite direction corners will show dark area (the lens hood) briefly; on standard O.I.S mode, no issue at all. If the filter can be 0.1 mm thinner, that would be perfect. You may argue I should use a different lens hood, I agree that is why I give this a 5 starts.

Even though it is multicoated, I still get reflections or ghosts of strong light sources on the filter, consequently, appearing on the shot. I guess you'll have to spend more than $100 on a filter to avoid this, I haven't, so I can't really compare. As long as you know this filter's drawback and work around it, you'll be just fine.

Comments about Hoya 46mm Ultraviolet UV(0) Haze Multicoated Filter:
Much cheaper than my other B+W and Schneider filters, a good option for less expensive lens.

Comments about Hoya 46mm Ultraviolet UV(0) Haze Multicoated Filter:
Clear UV filter gets the job done. I systematically add a UV to my lens to protect them.
Using it with the Micro four thirds 20mm pancake makes the lens bulky (because it is so small) but it is alright

Comments about Hoya 46mm Ultraviolet UV(0) Haze Multicoated Filter:
I purchased this filter as lens protection on my Panasonic TM700. It does the job well as flare is well controlled when compared to non coated filters.
There is a minimal amout of green flare when shooting photos with the flash between the filter and lens at the widest angle. That flare disappears when zoomed in for a photo with the flash. I would remove the filter in these situations.
This is the best multicoated uv filter available from any manufacturer in this filter size. Hoya do make other series but not in this size.

A great deal for basic lens protection. You can spend a lot more for a UV lens, but this does the job quite well.

I bought this for my LUMIX 20mm/F1.7 lens. I figured, if I was going to spend a lot of money on a lens, it made sense to spend a little extra for this filter. Worth it, in my opinion - that lens is what makes the camera great so I will go to any length to treat it right!

I bought this filter as a lens protector for my Panasonic HDC-TM700 camcorder, which I also bought at B+H Photo[...]The filter came in a nice retail container that can be used for storage.

Crystal clear glass, easy to mount, slim and compact enough not to vignette. Bought it to go on a Contax G2 and I understand that the original Contax filter was made by Hoya but sold for twice the price.

threaded onto my lumix 20mm 1.7; it gives me a great feeling of "safety" when my 2yr old comes running at me with a toy and an eye for the lens. bought it to help protect the expensive prime, and because global warming, you know, more UV light.
it feels a little flimsy, but its great for the price.

Some added glare/reflections with this in low light with bright lights in frame. The new Sigma EX DG is far superior.

What can you say about a UV filter? It screwed onto my lens and it looks very clear. -- I've been putting Hoya filters on all my lenses for 40 years and I've never had a damaged lens. Its peace of mind, and yes, I believe my long distance outdoor photos are cleared.
