If you want to have more control and experiment with you your flash and the direction of its light then this cable is for you. You can hold the flash in your hand or mount this to the tripod. The only drawback is the cord is no flexible enough and as I moved the flash out the camera came with it. I suppose over time it will loosen up but this should not stop you from buying it.

Off Camera Flash
Great to have the flash off the camera in a hand held use. Great to throw in the bag and not have to rely on radio triggers in a pinch.

Comments about Olympus FL-CB05 Hot Shoe Cable:
Cable works and it is reliable. But I tried to put my hotshoe flash on a stand apart and I do not have a lot of range nor lot of manoeuvrability.

Comments about Olympus FL-CB05 Hot Shoe Cable:
I use the FL-CB05 Hot Shoe Cable to connect a Panasonic DMW-FL500 flash to a Lumix DMW-GH2 camera. As a result of the Micro four thirds standard this cable works perfectly with the Panasonic equipment. I use this cable to move the flash off the camera and onto a Folding S-bracket, raising the flash further above the lens and permitting proper flash positioning when the camera is held vertically. The cable works perfectly, with all automatic functions properly supported between the camera and the flash unit. The coiled cord stays out of the way of reaching the camera controls and most importantly, out of the field of view.

Comments about Olympus FL-CB05 Hot Shoe Cable:
I began using the product immediately with my Olympus Evolt E500, and Vivitar 285HV as off camera flash.
The unit is Practical, Well Built, Conveniant and Comfortably priced.
The coiled cable was a bit clumsy, but a workaround fixed it in no time. No big deal compared to the units pluses.

Comments about Olympus FL-CB05 Hot Shoe Cable:
This was a great addition to me equipment and has proven to be very useful. If you don't have the money to get into the wireless realm, this is what you need to be able to control your lighting. It allows me to set my flash unit on a tripod and point it towards a reflector serving as an umbrella of sorts. Great pickup!

My camera could tell it was not attached to the camera and the flash lost most of its functionality.

Using this with my Olympus FL36 though the packaging says it is for FL 40. It works great with my flash and my E620.
Using it for macro photography.

Comments about Olympus FL-CB05 Hot Shoe Cable:
I have not experienced any problems with electrical connections with this device. My flash fires consistently. The cord is relatively inflexible, but just the right length. It would be a better design if the male hot shoe cord did come off the front or side instead of from the top.

Comments about Olympus FL-CB05 Hot Shoe Cable:
every now and then I have to take the head apart and tighten the main screw, but this is my second cable. The first one is going on over a year with no problems.
I have wireless flash capabilities but having this as a backup in invaluable when doing event photography.
Canon cable works as well and is cheaper

Comments about Olympus FL-CB05 Hot Shoe Cable:
Nice cable, but a little bit short. I use it for my older FL-50 flash that does not have wireless capability. This cable gives you the ability to shoot with the flash off the camera for creating creative lighting effects.

Comments about Olympus FL-CB05 Hot Shoe Cable:
It connects a Leica Camera with a Metz Flash and works perfectly. A little tight to start with so you need to be gentle. This is better than it being too loose and it falling out like another one I used on another camera. It is a little heavy though.

Comments about Olympus FL-CB05 Hot Shoe Cable:
There really isn't much between not working at all or working. So far as I can tell, the cable works much the same as other manufacturers's cables (I had a Canon system before with the Off-Camera Cord II).
My Olympus SP570UZ camera and Olympus FL50R flash appear to work fine together off-camera thanks to this cable.

Comments about Olympus FL-CB05 Hot Shoe Cable:
Works as advertised, and getting the flash even a foot or two off the camera can be very useful. The coiled cable is stiffer than I'd like (both to stretch out, and in terms of not 'rebounding' after being stretched), and I'd rather have the cord coming out the side rather than the top of the hot shoe module (even if that means that it's sometimes on the 'wrong' side), but these are fairly minor factors.
