Cokin P121S Graduated G2 Soft Gray Neutral Density Filter - Often it is necessary or desirable to balance the light intensity in one part of a scene with another. This is especially true in situations where you don't have total light control, as in bright contrasty landscapes. Exposing for the foreground will produce a washed-out, over-exposed sky while exposing for the sky will leave the foreground dark and under-exposed.
Cokin graduated gray ND filters are part clear, part neutral density. They allow the transition to be blended into the scene, often imperceptibly. A ND.6-to-clear, with a two stop differential, will generally compensate the average bright sky-to-foreground situation and is also the most popular density of the series.
Note! This filter measures 84mm wide and fits the Cokin P series holder

Its a decent filter for the price.
Does its job as intended.
Filter looks extremely cheap, almost like a cheap window of a chinese made toy bus... but the box looks more expensive then the filter ... in fact the box is made of really good durable platsic material and looks elegent. I think Cokin needs to spend more money on the glass even if it means giving cheaper or no box.
The filter definately looks rediculously cheap on my L glass but at the moment I am willing to spend only this much as I need to learn more about using filters correctly. Once I get good at it, I will definately buy better quality filters. I would recommend it only for those who have entry level lenses or if you are like me who wants to learn first before spending extra on better filters.

Cokin Graduated Gray ND filters are my favorite for the price. I've tried Hitech but was not completely happy with them. I guess I just expected more cause I paid more.....my bad. I assume I would have to make the jump to the really pricy ones for a noticeable improvement. (Just a guess)
But I don't think I would grab the expensive ones anyway. I tend to work fast(rush) and as a result my filters get abused. Cheap ones are easier to replace.

This is the best ND grad filter by far. There are others out there, but nothing matches the Cokin range for quality and price. Easy to use with the Cokin P Filter holder, and gives great results when you want to darken down a brigh sky for balance and dramatic effect. Works well with my Sigma 10-20mm and Tamron 17-50.
Every photographer should have one of these in their bag.

I use this filter for my landscapes particularly for moving water and clouds. It performs as promised and is far more effective than one might think fhis time, there are no holders for the price.
The only down side is, at this time, there are no holders and adapters available for this filter so it demands tripod with my holding the filter over my lens...a but awkward but not impossible.

I use this for landscape photography. The soft edge is perfect for getting that blended sky and correct exposures without having a harsh line like you can get from harder edges graduations. I haven't found anything negative about the product. I would recommend this to other buyers.

Comments about Cokin P121S Graduated G2 Soft Gray Neutral Density Filter (3-Stop):
This is my first ND Grad filter. I am using it in hard day light and soft sunlight, during morning and evening hours too. This is a good filter for the people like me who are starting to learn the importance of filters. Honestly speaking, most of the time, this filter leaves magenta tint to the image (mostly during longer exposures). Most of the time, they can be corrected in post processing.
I believe, the product you get, depends on the money you spent. This product is worth the money and I will recommend this for starters. Once you are familar with filters, you can decide which filters are suitable for your photography and you can go for a better (expensive) alternative. 4 star - Value for money.
Good luck and Enjoy your clicks.

Most of the filters add "non-natural" effects ; it's not the case with this one and its little friend P121L.It's really hard to find those references in most of the store : so use B&H stock while they have them...

I use the square filters by holding them in front of the lens. By using a tripod you achieve the same results as you would using a holder. They do attract dust so they need to be cleaned before use.
