I use my little portable Hakuba mostly with a Canon G11 and an EOS XTi with relatively lightweight lenses. The head isn't really strong enough to keep a heavy lens on an SLR from drooping. If you need to use a heavy lens, bring a sturdier tripod.

One of my favorite features of this tripod is that, although it's only about a foot tall in its short configuration, it extends out to about waist height when extended, which enables pretty good self-portraits, while still being small enough to pack away in motorcycle or bicycle luggage.

One potential downside is that the head only tilts counterclockwise when looking through the camera. If you need to tilt clockwise, you have to turn the camera around. It hasn't bothered me, but might be a problem for some.

I recommend this tripod frequently to friends who are looking for a tripod that's easy to travel with. At this price level, it's not even a huge deal if it's lost or stolen.

It's very useful to any woman because you can carry in a medium handbag easily and it stands perfectly to take night shots; but it's a little bit difficult to bend.
