Great for DIY camera bag. Bought a $30 bag from a surplus store, stuck it in and now I have a fully functional camera bag for my Leica gear. Best of all, it doesn't look like a camera bag.

I am a Leica and Canon user. Like most people with some expensive gear in their bag I soon found myself looking for a bag a bit less conspicuous - ie: looks like a regular bag.

So the solution I arrived at was to buy an old leather bag from a Thrift store and a Large Hadley Insert from B&H. And the solution works brilliantly!

Not only did the insert fit the bag perfectly but there was both much more room and protection than i thought there would be. The quintessential quality of Billingham is very evident in the product; the materials used are very nice and the manufacturing quality is great.

Possibly the only down side to my new bag (as opposed to my old lowepro) is the lack of any weather sealing. From rain it is quite well protected but from dust and sand it is not.

I guess whether you choose a solution like this as opposed to say a Lowepro bag will be depend on what type of pictures you take but for street photography, documentary and reportage I can't really find a better solution than the Large Hadley Insert by Billingham.

I wanted this to line a bag of mine but it turned out to be much bigger than I thought (height) Looked to be well made though.

I use this insert with an old messenger bag to make an inexpensive but functional camera case. The insert is big enough to hold my Nikon D80 with the 70-300 lens attached with plenty of room for a couple of smaller lenses and some other stuff. Padding is good and the inserts allow for lots of cusomization.
