This was the perfect solution for using my Canon digital to produce some close up studio product shots - something as a designer I don't normally do. I needed a small lightweight, easy to store tripod with all the functions possible. This fits the bill at a super low price. I don't know what others expected for this price - but for my situation the price fit the job perfectly. The tripod has every adjustment I could possibly use - and because I am not planning on lugging this around with a heavy camera on top to multiple locations I'm sure it will last me a very long time. It functioned far better than I imagined it would and had far greater range of height than expected.

Since Canon has such a big name in cameras, I thought perhaps they would make a pretty good tripod too. Upon first inspection the legs appear pretty solid, although the plastic arms that connect the legs to the center column seem a little flimsy. It worked for a while, seemed pretty stable, seemed to be a fine tripod for the money. However, after using it for about an hour, the screw that holds on the quick release lever had become loose without my knowledge. Upon picking up the tripod to adjust it and setting it back down, the quick release lever came off completely, and dropped my brand new Rebel xti 400d onto the concrete. The lens was ruined, and the body surprisingly had only minor damage as far as I could tell. The problem was that the quick release lever actually pivots on the screw that holds it in, and moving the lever back and forth managed to ratchet the screw loose. [...]

Comments about Canon Deluxe Tripod 200 (Quick Release) with 3-Way Panhead & Free Case:
Great bang for the buck.
Stable enough to handle a D7000 + Nikkor 70-300VR (1.5Kg/3.7Lbs).
Reasonably lightweight, but not really small when folded (~60cm/2ft). I guess it would be heavier and more expensive if the legs folded in 4 parts instead.
I really like the side-pulling leg locks instead of rotating locks. Very stable, easy and fast to lock/unlock, and don't slip at your hands in humid weather.
The head is simple but efficient. The quick-release plate is more useful than I initially thought. A bit difficult to screw-in at first, very easy to use once screwed (using the fast release lever).
You might consider getting another bag. The included one offers little protection and has an unpractical handle position that doesn't keep the package balanced while carrying it.
While there are similar items that are lighter and smaller when folded, there is none at this price, where the Canon Delux Tripod 200 is a great value. Would give it five stars if the legs folded in 4 parts instead of 3, making it fold smaller.

I started to doing HDR photography, and this tripod is my best friend for that...
It is very easy to use (mount camera, unfold, carry).
The only thing which could be better is,
being 6.3 I could have used couple of extra inches on this tripod...

Great tripod. light but sturdy, great for moving around. 3-way panhead allows for quick switch between horizontal and vertical shots. A little sticky when panning horizontally.

Replaced a whimpy, unstable tripod for a telescope i bought my six year old grand daughter. It's stable and much easier for her to use.

Comments about Canon Deluxe Tripod 200 (Quick Release) with 3-Way Panhead & Free Case:
Would recommend for someone that would be a casual, infrequent user. I have used it a decent bit for about 1 year and in that time frame the crank shaft broke and I had to manually lift and lower the tripod head. Last week, the plastic head cracked all the way through while I was out shooting. Up until the head cracked, I was happy with the product and it worked well.

Comments about Canon Deluxe Tripod 200 (Quick Release) with 3-Way Panhead & Free Case:
Lightweight and sturdy. This was purchased as an additional tripod for use with a flash as needed. Can be used with any camera without issue, that's how sturdy this is. The only issue is that when I go to take portraits with this I rotate the camera to the right, not the left as I've become accustom to. Other than that, you can't beat it for the price.
