Wimberley has devised adapters for telephoto lenses that take the place of the tripod collar foot and convert the collar to Arca-style clamp capability without the need for additional quick release plates. Critical mass is reduced & the profile of the lens is lowered, which makes it well suited to use with the Wimberley Sidekick. Every adapter plate is complete with both 3/8"-16 & 1/4"-20 holes to directly attach the lens directly to a monopod or tripod (without an Arca-style clamp) if desired. Drilled holes necessary to attach any of the flash brackets from Wimberley, Really Right Stuff & Kirk Enterprises are also incorporated into the design.
Each adapter comes complete with all the necessary hardware and tools to make the conversion, as well as retaining screws to prevent the lens from falling to the ground should you mistakenly unscrew the clamp.

Comments about Wimberley Replacement Foot for Nikon 400 f2.8 AF-S:
The replacement foot for my Nikon 600mm F4 came in on Friday and I installed it in a few minutes. The required 2.5mm tool was supplied with the foot, and the four screws were quite easy to remove and then re-install. I tested the new foot out on my Wimberly head and it fit perfectly. The replacement foot also offers standard sized holes so I can still use my lens with my monopod, and the "slide stops" fit the Wimberley head just right without extending too much and getting in the way.
The new foot is slightly heavier than the original provided by Nikon.

Comments about Wimberley Replacement Foot for Nikon 400 f2.8 AF-S:
Replace Nikon's tripod foot with this for faster assambly with your tripod. This foot also lower the distance between the lens and the head = sturdier.
But the best advantage is that my lens fits more secure to the tripodhead clamp. It also make the assambly to the tripod faster which is a good thing because the kamera and the lens is heavy and i'm always afraid to drop them when fastened to my tripod.
So if you own a big lens and a arcaswiss clamp to your triphead do not be stingy not buying this lensplate.

Comments about Wimberley Replacement Foot for Nikon 400 f2.8 AF-S:
This foot makes 400 2.8 more stable, reduces its profile and fits perfectly in the Wimberley Gimball head. It is really a nice idea to replace the original foot.

Comments about Wimberley Replacement Foot for Nikon 400 f2.8 AF-S:
It is a needed adapter to connect a Nikon 600 mm lens to the Wimbereley arm, you simply cannot do it with the adapter that you get from Nikon. You should know this in advance as an added cost (marginal compared to the lens cost, but still...).

Comments about Wimberley Replacement Foot for Nikon 400 f2.8 AF-S:
Getting sharp images doing outdoor wildlife photography with our 400mm lens and a 2X doubler is a real challenge and takes lots of practice. Replacing the Nikon factory supplied foot and the Arca plate with this all-in-one accessory has given us more "keepers" from each of our shoots.

Comments about Wimberley Replacement Foot for Nikon 400 f2.8 AF-S:
I have used this Arca-type foot on my 400mm 2.8 lens for a weeks time now and love it. I've had problems with the long handle like foot the lens came with as it is wobbly and makes a steady shot difficult. The new foot places the lens closer to my Wimberly head, and the wobbly action is gone. In effect the foot enhances the performance of my lens!

Comments about Wimberley Replacement Foot for Nikon 400 f2.8 AF-S:
The Wimberley replacement foot for the Nikon 400 f2.8 lens lowers the lens on the Wimberley gimbal head which makes a stiffer mechanical arrangement. It mates with the Acra Swiss clamp on the Wimberley.

The supplied foot for the lens needs to be replaced by another vendors foot. The stock foot is too far away when mounting on a gimbal tripod head.

Comments about Wimberley Replacement Foot for Nikon 400 f2.8 AF-S:
This replaces the foot on the Nikon 400mm VR and 600mm VR, and I feel gives a more stable situation than the original foot that comes with the lens. It also is a perfect fit for the Wimberley II. There is enough of a separation so it can be used as a handle, but not too much to cause instability or a problem with fitting in a Nikon CL-L2 or Lowepro Lens Trekker 600 AW II case.

Lowers the height of my Nikon 600mm f4G lens on my Wimberley gimbal head and provides better balance for the setup and movement. Comes with replacement set of screws that can be kept as a backup to the original. Easy to change the foot within a few minutes.

Comments about Wimberley Replacement Foot for Nikon 400 f2.8 AF-S:
This baby has been installed on the 600/4 VR just received from Germany. With the Wimberley head it is really the replacement foot you need to accomodate this large lens. As usual, the tool for unmounting the original foot and to place this replacement foot is included, as also the 4 screws (if needed, I did reused the former ones).
