Was looking for a moderately priced 42" reflector and I came across PhotoFlex.

At first sight, the reflector looks pretty durable and will be able to last a long time.

The lightstand and holder are of decent build and is solid at the legs. The lightstand is easy to set up but the 42" reflector proves to be too demanding on it as it feels like it will flip over the slightest breeze.

The locking mechenism are not exactly durable as they are screw based and I broke one of the threads when it did not tighten as turning a few rounds.

Basics: You're buying a multi-disc reflector, the stand and a holder. The multi-disc reflector is well made, is very handy and flexible. It's intentionally flexible for shaping the light onto the subject. We use a number of these, and have for several years, none of which has been replaced...at least not yet. I highly recommend the reflector. The stand is a basic light duty light stand, nothing special. The holder is of slightly higher quality as the stand, the clamps adjust along the axis of the holder rod for positioning and the clamps hold the disc along the edges. All in all, it's quite handy, and holds the disc securely.

Pros:
It does what it's supposed to; modify light. In a perfect world I'd have minions holding each light modifier for a shoot, but the reality is; you need something to hold the disc in place, sometimes that means several discs and sometimes that means for hours. The stand and the holder do just that, hold the disc in position.

Cons:
The photoflex stands are adequate, but nothing special. I prefer the Bogen/Manfrotto light stands; the 'basic light stand' from Manfrotto is the same size as the photoflex, but it's of a much higher quality. This is not an item to be used outside on a windy day, the disc becomes a sail and you'll need somebody holding the reflector. I'm not impressed with the photoflex metal finishing, it's better on the holder but worse on the stand.

Bottom Line:
Buy the reflector without hesitation, the holder is decent/good and can be used with any light stand. The stand is ok for what it is, but there are better light duty options (Manfrotto).

Very cheap and flimsy reflector holder. The union between the stand and the reflector holder is the worst part. The photoflex stand is fair.

There are others to pick from, I plan on returning this one.

I purchased this kit with the best of intentions after looking at all of the options available. Unfortunately, the quality is just not there. The 42” reflector is rather flimsy and difficult to hand hold as it wants to flex . The stand is ultra light duty and has unsatisfactory screw for tightening. The reflector holder is by far the weakest link in this kit – it has clamp style holders that make positioning the reflector difficult and the tightening mechanism requires you to crank it so hard I thought it was going to break. And even then, the reflector still was not stable. As such, I returned the entire kit.
A much better alternative is the Westcott 42” 6-in-1 reflector with the Westcott reflector holder. The Westcott reflector 6-in-1 actually gives you two reflector frames in a single pack. I use one to shoot a flash through and the other as a reflector. If you were to do this with Photoflex you would have to buy two separate reflectors. Westcott needs to promote this benefit more. In addition, the quality of material used in the 6-in-1 is outstanding. The reflector arm is heavy duty and easily locks in the desired position and is very accommodating when installing the reflector (easy set up). I also purchased a more heavy duty stand. Now this set up feels secure and is ready for indoors or out.
