Problem with Nikon 12-24 lens

    Comments about Ikelite Dome Port:

I've not gotten this underwater yet, but I already have found a strange problem. With the Nikon 12-24mm lens, d80 Ikelite housing, putting on the zoom sleeve involves putting the camera in the housing, mounting the sleeve from the back of the lens (it won't fit over the front) and then putting on the lens and then the port. This works fine. However, getting the lens out is scary -- the lens release button is inaccessible inside the housing. After some frantic fishing with a long, thin screwdriver, I did rescue my camera. Ikelite recommends doing what I did, and then blithely says 'reverse the steps' to get the camera out. I wonder if they ever tried it. Lesson: don't go on a dive trip without a long, thin screwdriver.
