This is an Avenger A205SCBKIT Century Stand Grip Arm Kit. The Century "C" Stand is a favorite among professional photographers, film makers and videographers everywhere. It is durable, and designed to collapse flat for easy transport and storage.
The leg design provides a very low center of gravity, and makes it easy to bury in the soil or sand, or accept sandbags for extra stability.
This kit includes a 2.5" swivel grip, and a 40" grip arm, which is suitable for holding reflectors, or a lightweight light head. It has a black painted finish.

Comments about Avenger A205SCBKIT Century "C" Stand Grip Arm Kit, Black - 10.75' (3.26m):
This stand and grip kit seem to be very well built...actually a little heavy there.
My only complaints are there were absolutely no directions or any paperwork about the stand whatsoever in the packaging. This is my first C stand and so it would have been rather helpful to have some directions on how to put it together and ideas for use. It also is slightly awkward to put the legs of the stand out with it weighing so much, I usually have to lay it down to get them out.
My only other complaint is I do on location shoots and use my regular sized ecconomy car to transport all my gear. The first time I put the stand in my trunk...it got stuck! It rubs both backseat doors if on the backseat of my car. Really wish it would slide down some more so it would be more travel friendly!
Overall, it seems like a nice product. May cause me to overlook Avenger in future purchases though...I think all products that require assembly/cost over $50. should have some sort of directions with it!

This product arrived to me in bad cosmetic condition. No packaging material inside the box whatsoever. If you're buying this from overseas, take that into consideration. The stand was pretty sturdy despite the many plastic parts which is not a problem for me.
For me the main reason I chose a century stand over a regular light stand is for it's versatility and stability. These stands are necessary if you don't have an assistant. I recently used this on a set to hold a 4x6 reflector in an unusual angle in windy conditions, with sandbags of course.
Once you're making money with your video/photography, I would say having at least one of these stands is a must. If you are still contemplating which brand to buy, you can't go wrong with Avenger. That's why there are so many positive reviews about this brand.

i give 4 stars because you cant unmount the legs on this c-stand. Very useful for equipment mobilization. Although if its only for studio use, this is probably not an issue.
Manfrotto excels in everything they produce. I dare say it's always a safe investment with them. This c-stand is useful in the studio and on location, ive used these in fresh water, saltwater, the rainforrest, etc. It awesome to have these tools around. They can sometimes reduce the need of lighting assistants as well - make sure you have clamps to attach things to the c-stand.
Aside from supporting heavy lights/modifiers, the c-stand arms are useful to hold props and all sorts of studio utilities. It's footprint is smaller compared to regular tripods which keeps locations less clogged up - without sacrificing stability. Be sure to use sandbags for safety. Especially when you are working on location and lots of people are moving around the set. Sandbags should be mandatory if you are concerned with safety.

The build quality on this is the best I have had on a stand. It is rather heavy, but I just used a hand truck to cart it around. It was very sturdy but I learned that it takes more than one heavy sand bag to keep the wind from knocking it down when using an umbrella on it (the gash on my forehead proves it). Overall I am very happy with it and I know it will last me a very long time no matter how I use it.

I just wish I had found out about this stand before buying others. It is the "sliced bread" of stands for setting up my lights. It should last a lifetime as it is built like a tank.

Use it for the rigging of lights, flags or other peripherals, as well as covers for equipment and green screen supports.
Most stands are similar, but I am a fan of avengers knob and rubber holder. It really allows you to torque the arms and knuckles down for safety while being a bit nicer on the hands. They are also more sturdy than any light stand and more welcoming to sand bags.
If handles correctly, any c stand can last you over a decade with only minor replacements.

This is my first C-Stand, and I must say, I AM IMPRESSED. It has a much sturdier stand than my regular light stands and this one is very tall. Once opened I noticed the legs do not have the wide footprint that my other stands have. I WILL PURCHASE MORE OF THESE STANDS....WOW!!!

It's seems strange to review a C-Stand and so I've decided to do it even though I should be prelighting...
This is the best stand - ever. If you live in a cave you might not know that but C-Stands allow stands to have their legs stacked so you can light a tight set. The C-arm allows the stand to reach. The design of the handles and knuckles is extremely good and the stands don't slip provided you know to put the weight/stress in the direction of tightening rotation - you knew that right?
They're also black which makes them cool. Only movie people like chrome stands and that's because they're from California where it's all about flash but this is NYC and it's all about black. It's been so long I forget why... Oh, right, so they don't reflect the lights and make stupid catchlights all over the place. Mostly it's because it's cool though.
Bogen Avengers are much better made than Mathews - that seems so obvious it shouldn't need to be said. I'm saying it though.
There, I reviewed a C-stand. I can now retire feeling my career is complete.

You should know what a C stand is. A lot of them are different. They're all difficult at times, but avengers hold up. Slight differences you can't see in the pictures; The Ts are rubber coated and the arm is hardened plastic. It may not last as long as the all metal ones, but it seems promising. Well manufactured. But the metal ones would probably last longer.

There is no position you can't put your lights/scrims/barndoors or any other light modifier in. This is the very first Century stand i've ever purchased but i'm sure it will be my last for a very long time.

I use my c-stands in a variety of ways, from holding silks, diffusion frames, to HMI lights. I have to say that the Avenger series c-stands are among the best out there for their durability and convenient self locking legs. It's nice not to have to mess with a wing nut to get the legs out quickly and in a locked position.
